Follow Your Passion

Follow Your Passion Jim Hughes is today’s guest on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots podcast interview. He is the founder of Become Untamed, a coaching, deep immersion and adventure events programme, and the place where he helps you find yourself often using the wilderness as the way forward. He has been on a hell of a journey of personal discovery over the last few years, but now seems to have found the point when it’s hard to drag the smile off his face. But let’s go back a few years and the smile was lost, or at least mislaid. As he says “I burned myself out treading someone else’s path. I changed myself to fit into my environment, I questioned – and then quietened – my instincts, and I lost confidence in my abilities. I stressed myself out questioning everything. I’d always pushed through challenges so this lack of clarity was crippling.

Accepting Where You Are Then Starting Again

Accepting Where You Are Acceptance of life and its ups and downs is hard. It’s normal to want things in life. We all want to be successful, happy, and healthy. But what if we could learn how to accept ourselves and others? What if we could learn how to accept situations that don’t go our way? It might sound like an impossible feat at first glance, but the truth is that accepting life as it comes is one of the most important aspects of being happy. If you can master this skill, you will discover a freedom unlike any other—and it starts with learning how to accept yourself. The Power Of Acceptance Acceptance is a process. It’s not something you can just snap your fingers and do. For example, if you’ve been trying to quit smoking cigarettes for years, it’s not going to happen overnight. You have to take one day at a time until you reach your goal. Acceptance is also a choice! In other words, when someone says they feel like they have no choice but to accept something or someone in their life that they don’t like (whether it’s their physical appearance or having an annoying neighbour), what they’re really saying is that they don’t want anything different than what already exists right. It doesn’t mean that we should just put up with stuff at all, but we can accept things and look for a better way of seeing them – putting a positive spin on an otherwise difficult situation. This helps us live our lives free from worry or stress so we can focus more on enjoying ourselves instead of stressing out over things beyond our control such as traffic jams caused by construction sites everywhere!”

Self Sabotaging

Are you a Self Sabotager? Of course you are going to say “No, why the hell would I want to do something that makes my situation worse” Well you would be surprised how many people unintentionally or sometimes intentionally do things to do just that. Breaking something in such a way that there is no way back from it, in effect freeing themselves from the issue. Self-sabotage is the act of subconsciously or intentionally getting in your own way. It’s not just a bad habit. It’s not just laziness or procrastination. Being a self-sabotager is something much deeper, and it often stems from a lack of self-knowledge and awareness. Or most commonly its when you want to get away from a situation and are unable to articulate this feeling. As you will hear on the podcast I have done this myself to spectacular effect and looking back on it could see exactly why I did it even though i was powerless to stop.

Forget What Everyone Else Is Telling Us

Forget What Everyone Else Is Telling Us It's time to stop listening to advice. We've all heard it: "You should do this." Or, "You shouldn't do that." But what if we did the opposite? What if we stopped following other people's advice and instead made our own decisions about how to live our lives? When you think about it, the concept of listening to other people's advice is pretty weird. Why would anyone want to take advice from someone else? We all know what works for us and what doesn't, so why not just go with what works? The truth is, taking advice from others can be dangerous, because it robs us of our ability to make informed decisions. Instead of basing your decisions on what you think will work best for you, you're basing them on what someone else thinks will work best for them. Sure, they may have some good ideas—but they also might not. And even worse, they could be totally wrong! That's why it's important to take full ownership over your life and create the life YOU want instead of letting other people tell you how things should be done.

Using Affirmations In Our Life

Using Affirmations In Our Life Have you ever thought about how many times a day you say something like "I'm so tired" or "I can't do this anymore"? If you're like us, it's probably a lot. But did you know that those kinds of thoughts can actually hold you back from reaching your full potential? That's because when we think negative things about ourselves, it creates a self-fulfilling prophecy. We tend to attract the same kind of situations into our lives and make it difficult for ourselves to improve in any way. Affirmations are a great way to build success in your life. According to Napoleon Hill, author of Think and Grow Rich, "you must know what you want and have the burning desire to possess it." If you have the desire, but don't know what you want, then your affirmation will be vague, and therefore ineffective. The first step is identifying the goal. This is where affirmations come in. An affirmation is a statement that you repeat over and over again until it starts to become true for you. For example: "I am so grateful for my new job." Say this statement every day as soon as you wake up until it becomes true for you. You will see results quickly because there is power in repetition. When we repeat an idea over and over again, we start believing that idea is true, even if at first it wasn't true or it didn't feel true at all when we said it aloud for the first time! Affirmations can also help us focus on our goals by helping us visualize what we want rather than just thinking about them all day long without any direction or action taken towards achieving them."

Motivation

Do You Know What Truly Motives You? Motivation is a huge part of life. It keeps us going, it pushes us to keep trying even when we feel like we can't go on anymore, and it's what makes us excited about things in the first place. Motivation is one of those things that can be found in so many different places and situations, but it's up to us choose how much motivation we want to take from each source. In fact, there are even apps designed to help people find motivation! If you're looking for some new ways to get motivated this month (or year), read on for some great ideas: Motivation is a skill You may have heard the term “motivation” thrown around quite a bit, but do you really know what it means? Motivation is a skill that can be developed and practiced. It's not an innate trait or something only some people have. It's easy to get discouraged and think that some people are just born more motivated than others, but in reality many of us simply need to work on our motivation skills. Motivation is something that you can learn like any other skill. Just like learning how to play guitar or speak Spanish fluently, practicing your motivation skills will improve them over time! Therefore, anyone with enough patience and determination can develop their own set of effective methods for achieving success in life.*

How To Be Positive Thinking

Introducing How To Be Positive Thinking We’ve all heard about positive thinking, and we always think of it as a great way to live. For most of us, it’s easier said than done. Why? Because when things are tough—when bills are due, you’re short on rent, or your relationship isn’t working—it can be difficult to keep up with the optimism. But I’m here to tell you that it is possible. Let me explain how I learned to be more positive in my life, even when things got hard. Your Not Alone Even Though You Think You Are One of the most important things to remember is that you are not alone. The world can sometimes seem like a cold and dark place, but there are people all around you who have gone through similar situations as you and have come out stronger on the other side. Just because your situation is different does not mean it’s worse or better than someone else’s. The best part about other people going through hard times is that they tend to be very helpful in finding solutions! Asking for support from friends and family can go a long way towards helping you deal with difficult situations in your life You Can't Control Everything Even If You Try It’s important to remember that you can’t control everything. You can’t control other people, the weather, your past, or the future. You also can’t control your emotions or your health and financial situation. In fact, there are only a few things that we can control in life: Our reactions to situations (i.e., being able to take things in stride) How we think about situations (i.e., having an optimistic mindset) The actions we take (i.e., doing something rather than nothing at all) Dont Be Scared Of What You Dont Know You can’t know everything. In fact, you don’t even know what you don’t know. And even if you did, it wouldn’t matter because your understanding of reality is just a construct of your brain—a fragile, limited thing that has been constructed by the same system that keeps trying to convince us we’re all doomed to die alone in this universe with no purpose or meaning. But don’t get me wrong: I’m not saying we shouldn’t try to be better at understanding ourselves and our world! It’s important to try new things and work toward self-improvement because it will help us feel confident when facing challenges and make us more likely to succeed at whatever goals we set for ourselves (even if those goals are just learning how not to be afraid).

Sylvester Stallone Success Story

Sylvester Stallone Success Story Sylvester Stallone’s story is one that has inspired many. From the depths of the Hollywood blacklist to his status as a household name, the actor and writer is a true success story. His Rocky movies and Rambo series are some of the most famous films in history and he went on to become a celebrated director, businessman, philanthropist and author. Today, in his late 70’s, Sylvester Stallone remains one of the world’s best-known actors but his route to success was anything but easy. A Long Way From Hollywood Sylvester Stallone was born in New York City on July 6, 1946, to Jacqueline Labofish and Frank Stallone Sr. His family background is Italian-American and he has two older sisters named Toni and Julie Ann. His mother left her husband when Sly was only three years old, so he moved with his siblings to live with their father’s parents in Washington Heights in northern Manhattan. His story started building dots was an amateur boxer, who won numerous Golden Gloves competitions which was one of the dots that gave him insight into a world that would be his key to success. As we see time and time again in Join Up Dots, the dots are not always clear at the time and can only be referenced as an amazing opportunity later on down the line. He attended high school at DeWitt Clinton High School but did not graduate as he had poor grades due to his persistent acting career which began at age 13 when he appeared in several commercials like Johnson & Johnson baby powder commercials or Richfield Oil commercials. He also appeared alongside Michael Caine on The Phil Silvers Show (1955) as well as on Mickey Rooney’s variety show where Sylvester got involved with the entertainment industry even further by doing stunt work for movies such as Bullitt (1968). He could see where he was heading and it was obvious to him that he had the talent to make himself a star. However as we find time and time again in life one persons vision of success is not how the world sees it. More often than not the world says “You ain’t going to get this easily but persevere and we’ll see what we can do for you in the future.”

And With Three Quick Steps He Took His Own Life

And With Three Quick Steps He Took His Own Life Hi there! I hope you're having a great week. I know it can be hard to open up about the things that trouble us, but I realized I needed to be honest with myself and say what was weighing on my mind. Last week i saw a stranger commit suicide right in front of me and I needed to process it. So this podcast is a quick audio diary of my journey back to a positive mindset after years struggling with the shock of this event over a few days. The best way to not be afraid is to realize that the person who attempted suicide was suffering immensely in their head. Reprogramming the story in your mind will help you see the person who attempted suicide as a troubled human being, and not someone that is weak or crazy. It also helps to know that for every one person that attempts suicide there are many more people who contemplate it. So if you are feeling down and out, try to remember this, because I truly believe that knowing this made me

How To Do Customer Avatar Research

How To Do Customer Avatar Research Introduction Conducting customer research is a crucial step in product development. Y our team’s goal should be to understand the behavior, needs, and motivations of your customers. This helps you build better products that solve real problems for real people. But it’s not enough to just survey customers or ask them a few questions—you need to dig deep into their habits and mindsets if you really want to know what makes them tick. This article will show you everything you need to know about conducting customer avatar research, including how to identify potential interviewees, what questions you should ask them, and how your team can use this information strategically in product development. Create a list of questions to ask the team. When you're ready to begin, gather the team around a whiteboard and make sure everyone has a pen. Then, ask these questions: What are your customers' pain points? How can we help our customers achieve their goals? What motivates our customers to buy from us or use our product or service? Who is this customer? Where do they live and work on a day-to-day basis? Customer avatar research is a critical step in product development. Customer avatar research is a critical step in product development. It helps you understand your customers and helps you understand the competition, but it also allows you to better understand your product and team. Customer avatar research is used by some of the largest companies in the world, including Google and Microsoft. Customer Avatar Research Helps You Understand Your Customers It’s important to have an understanding of who your customer actually is before you build a product or service for them. When companies think about their customers in broad strokes like “millennials” or “men over 50 years old” they miss out on so much valuable information about who these people really are as individuals—and how they behave when using products or services like yours. Customer avatar research helps paint a picture of these individuals so that companies can create products specifically tailored for them without missing any key details about their needs or preferences. Identify who you need to interview. When it comes to interviewing, there's no substitute for talking directly to your customers. But who should you talk to? Identify the right person: Who is it that brings value to this problem/solution? In most cases, this will be a consumer who uses your product or service; however, if they don't have much spending power and/or aren't willing or able to pay full price then consider talking with their manager instead (or another person that represents their wants). How many people do I need?: You'll want at least 10 interviews per persona type (i.e., 5 moms; 2 millennials; 1 upper-class dad), but if possible try shooting for 50% more than that so that you can get more data points and compare them later on when creating an avatar based on those findings. Identify what you want to learn from each customer. You'll want to start by identifying what you want to learn from each customer. What is your purpose for conducting these interviews? What are the main questions you want answered, problems you hope to solve and challenges you'd like to address? With this in mind, write out a list of all the things that come up during your research and how they relate back to these goals. Share and discuss findings with your team. Once you’ve completed your customer avatar research and gathered the insights, it’s time to share them with the team. Building A Business In War Torn Ukraine

Building A Business In War Torn Ukraine Alyona Mysko joins us today on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots business podcast. Now this is a podcast with a difference, as this start-up is not just dealing with financial difficulties, time restraints and technical issues like most start-ups. This is being created in the war torn country of Ukraine. For those of you that listen to this podcast in years to come, in 2022 the Ukraine was under an unprovoked attack by President Putin and the military force of Russia. The world was horrified, sanctions were placed on anyone with connections to the regime, and multi-national companies pulled out of Russia and would no longer have a presence in the county out of protest. Now Join Up Dots is not a political podcast, but is inspired by people going against the odds and remaining positive and focused on a new future even when times appear dark and bleak.
