Discover the surprising reasons why stress might be your nemesis when it comes to creativity and innovation, and how to overcome it. From the neuroscience of stress to the unexpected consequences that are impacting your daily life, I've got it all covered. I'll dig into how stress is minimizing your creative problem-solving abilities, decision making and innovator talents. Tune in to learn how chronic stress is making you sick and dumb, how it shows up every day and I'll give you some easy to implement exercises to help you stress less and create more, everyday!   Episode Highlights: #1 IMPAIRED COGNITIVE FUNCTION: Stress triggers the release of cortisol, a hormone associated with the body's "fight or flight" response. Tamara talks about how stress impairs cognitive functions, including memory, attention, and problem-solving abilities. #2 PUTS BLINDERS ON: High levels of stress often lead to a narrowed focus. This tunnel vision limits your ability to think broadly, hindering the exploration of alternative perspectives and creative solutions #3 STAY STAFE: Stress tends to increase aversion to risk and promotes a conservative approach. When under stress you may be less likely to experiment with unconventional or novel concepts, stifling the creative process. Tamara also talks about how not changing and staying in place is actually the riskiest thing you can do. #4 MISTRUST: Effective innovation often relies on the exchange of diverse ideas and constructive collaboration. When stress is high, communication and collaboration break down. This leads to mistrust and lack of respect. #5 MASSIVE BURNOUT: Prolonged stress can lead to burnout and decreased motivation. Innovation requires a high level of engagement and passion for exploring new possibilities. Chronic stress can sap individuals of the energy and enthusiasm needed to tackle creative challenges, resulting in a lack of motivation to initiate or sustain innovative projects. #6 NO MORE SERENDIPITY: Serendipity is often a catalyst for innovation. Stress, however, can create a mindset focused on survival and immediate concerns, blocking you from recognizing and capitalizing on unexpected opportunities. You don't see them anymore. #7 STRESS LESS TIPS: Tamara shares her top tips for stressing less and creating more. All of this has been validated by her experience and research. She covers everything from the 50/20 rule to color therapy to cold plunging to "one thing" prioritizing method.   Join the  for exclusive behind-the-scenes content, early release bonuses, and to add your two cents about this episode and more!

The Hotel Mirror Experiment: Changing Your Self-Image and the Trajectory of Your Day

In this episode, I'll explore the incredible impact of a single mirror moment—a fleeting few seconds when I saw my reflection and felt its power to shape my day. Today, I delve into a personal story of a hotel mirror that drastically changed my day for the better, boosting my positive self talk and confidence for a major speaking engagement and then the pitfalls of a negative mirror moment that brought me down later. I'll also unlock some the science behind why this happens, revealing how your brain captures and influences your thoughts, communication, and actions based on that last image you see of yourself. Discover the "Imperfection Interruption," the subtle disruptions that stem from your self-perception, and learn how to overcome them. Podcast Highlights: #1 POWER OF THE MIRROR MOMENT: One mirror moment can change the trajectory of your life, giving your more confidence and positive self-talk. Tamara shares how a positive mirror moment led her to crush her speaking engagement, close a big deal and walk with confidence all morning. She also shares how she then had the opposite mirror moment that brought her day down. #2 THE IMAGE IMPRINT: How your brain records the last image of yourself and then stores it. This then impacts your thoughts, your communication, your behavior and actions all day long. Gary Brecka talks about the science behind how the brain records this last image. #3 THE IMPERFECTION INTERRUPTION: When that last recording image of yourself is filled with imperfections or what you don't like about yourself, that negatively impacts your day. On a subconscious level you have all these imperfect micro-interruptions that seep into your communication and behaviors. #4 THE 6 FEET RULE: How standing 6 feet from your mirror changes how you see yourself and that will change how you go about your day. At 6 feet you stop seeing the imperfections and begin to see the beauty and the positive. That image becomes what you carry around all day long. #5 MORNING ROUTINE MATTERS: Tamara also shares how she also uses fitness to create those Mirror Moments. When she lifts heavy or accomplishes a new personal record in Crossfit, the acts more boldly all day long. She also shares other tips for creating Mirror Moments all day. #6 POWER OF EXPERIMENTATION: Tamara also shares a little bit about her experimentation in going live on YouTube. We explore the intricacies of objection handling, negotiation, closing deals, and more, as we dissect the core principles of effective selling. Conversation Highlights: #1 Selling For Life Success: Selling isn't just about closing deals, it's about getting to yes with your spouse, your boss, your clients and your colleagues; it's a critical  life skill #2 STOP CONVINCING PEOPLE: How bad selling, or convincing is like standing on a bar and yelling at the top of your lungs, "I'm single and I drive a Porsche and here are 10 reasons why you should date me!" #3 TAKE THE EGO OUT OF IT: We need to stop selling from our perspective, and start selling from our prospects perspective. #4 LOSE CONTROL: Giving away control will actually close more deals and make you more money than trying to control the thoughts and next steps of your prospect. #5 THE F BOMB OF SALES: How saying "I'm just following up" is actually the opposite of what you should do to get to the next steps and close more deals #6 OBJECTIONS DON'T MATTER: How trying to convince someone that you can overcome their objections actually shuts down the conversation and the opportunity, the key is in understanding if it's a make or break objection, a complaint or a work around. #7 INTROVERTS VS. EXTROVERTS: How extroverts are great at selling because they have the energy to start conversations, but introverts are great because they like to listen for the answer.
