Disney fans rejoice! On January 1, 2024, Mickey Mouse, in the form of Steamboat Willie, entered the public domain. The Walt Disney Company postponed this for as long as they could, but the time had finally come. This fact became the topic of many news stories. In honor of this milestone occasion, Walt Disney Animation Studios released a short film titled “Once Upon a Studio.” In the short, Mickey and a whole bunch of Disney characters, that span a century, come to life at the Roy E. Disney fans rejoice! On December 23, 1998, Cirque du Soleil opened the show “La Nouba” at Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs). It became a staple of the dining, shopping, and entertainment district for just over 19 years when it played its final performance on December 31, 2017. At that time, Disney fans had no idea what would replace this long-running production. Almost four years later, Cirque du Soleil’s “Drawn to Life” opened in the same venue at Disney Springs on November 18, 2021. This new production features everything audiences know and love about Cirque du Soleil, but this time it features a lot of your favorite Disney characters with an unprecedented collaboration between Cirque du Soleil and Walt Disney Animation Studios.
