* If you're finding that happiness eludes you no matter how much you've achieved, then learning this easy mindset shift will set you on a life-changing path to greater fulfillment and success. Take a dive with us into Dan Sullivan's simple yet profound teachings that until now has been known only to his Strategic Coach clients: unsuccessful people focus on "The Gap", but successful people focus on "The Gain". Most people, especially highly ambitious people, are unhappy because of how they measure their progress. We all have an "ideal", a moving target that is always out of reach. When we measure ourselves against that ideal, we're in ""the gap"". However, when we measure ourselves against our previous selves, we're in "the gain". That is where the gap and the gain concept comes in. It was developed by legendary entrepreneur coach Dan Sullivan and is based on his work with tens of thousands of successful entrepreneurs. When Dan's coaching clients periodically take stock of all that they've accomplished - both personally and professionally - they are often shocked at how much they have actually achieved. They weren't able to appreciate their progress because no matter how much they were getting done, they were usually measuring themselves against their ideals or goals. In this book you will learn that measuring your current self vs. your former self has enormous psychological benefits. * I had the honor of interviewing one of the most amazing people on the planet today, Christopher Hallman. In the past, some people have told him to give up trying to be a speaker. Many people have only viewed him as "disabled." By "accident" I met him last month in Florida. Someone pushed his wheelchair up to the microphone during a Q and A session with hundreds of professionals in the room. He asked the global leader, "How can a young disabled man add value to other people?" It took him a long time to get the words out. But when he finished, the whole room erupted into a standing ovation. Some people cried. All were deeply impacted. Chris' courage had transformed us in a matter of minutes. He imparted a rare boldness into each of us. Our excuses and self-limiting beliefs eroded. After the session I found his mom and said, "Chris must speak at the Igniting Souls Conference. Please can he? Our people need his courage." When it comes to courage and conquering your fear, Chris Hallman is a true inspiration. I encountered him at a John Maxwell event, where he is a Certified Coach and Speaker, and his passion for learning and growing is amazing. Chris is differently-abled, and he is making a real difference as a Mentorship Alumni and a “Helping Others Heal” Certified Peer Mentor. His presentation at the Igniting Souls Conference was amazing.

* My book Day Job to Dream Job uses a Shawshank Redemption metaphor to describe how the prison of our day jobs keeps us institutionalized. In the book, I teach people how to go from Prison to Plan to Payoff. I thought it would be cool to have an event called Escaping Shawshank at Shawshank Prison.
