Twenty Seconds to ISS

A Soyuz launch scheduled to travel to the ISS was scrubbed twenty seconds before liftoff. SpaceX plans to launch later today with cargo for the ISS. SpaceX has also announced that they could be launching Strship again in six weeks. Budget cuts for NASA means they will be forced to shut down the CHandra X-Ray Observatory. SpaceX Has Been Very Busy... the Good Kind of Busy

SpaceX has been very busy with successful launches and some of them are very significant... including the successful mission by the Ax-3 crew who landed back on Earth after time at the ISS. A new study says that dying stars could move the habitable zone in their solar systems and melt ice down to liquid water and it could last long enough for life to emerge. And a temporary mini-moon orbiting Venus has been given a strange name.

It's Just a Helicopter... Don't Kick the Dog

An image of the Ingenuity helicopter on Mars shows it sitting all alone in the sand now that it's out of service. Ax-3's crew of private astornauts is on the way home from the ISS. One of Saturn's moons could possibly have liquid water. A massive sunspot that is visible from Mars could be visible from Earth (please use protective eyewear before you look). And a zombie satellite is heading back to the Earth's surface later this month.

Japan Gets a Win and a Loss on the Moon

Japan has become the 5th nation to successfully land a craft on the Moon, but the solar panels did not deploy and the batteries can't charge. Astrobotic's Peregrine lander has burned up in Earth's atmosphere ending its failed mission to land on the Moon. NASA remembers lives lost in the name of space discovery with their annual day of remembrance. JWST has given scientists a look back in time with interesting data.

NASA's Delays Moon Missions to 2025 and 2026

NASA has made the decision to move its next two Moon missions ro September 2025 and 2026. Astrobotic's Peregrine Moon lander will not successfully land on the Moon however ULA's Vulcan rocket was a success. JWST has given astronomers a look at aurora over a failed star and are not sure why it's there. SpaceX Ends Record Setting Year and Kicks Off 2024 with a Record Pace

SpaceX has an amazing end to 2023 with two launches less than three hours apart and accomplishing a 96 launch year. Juno has the 2nd closest pass of Io but the closest in a very long time. A new rocket could mean a faster way to travel to Mars. The Ingenuity copter sets a new record while accomplishing an incredible 70th flight which is 65 more than originally planned.

The Geminid meteor shower's origin is now a mystery now that it's suspected orgin is no longer possible. Voyager 1 has lost communication with Earth again. The Return of OSIRIS-REx!

The OSIRIS-REx mission will return to Earth on Sunday with samples collected from asterois Bennu after a 5 year mission. SpaceX's Starship is now waiting for Fish and Wildlife officials to sign off on their next launch. The Mars Curiosity Rover has successfully made it to the Gediz Vallis Ridge.
