"Repent for the Kingdom of God is here" illustrates Jesus' intention for us to change our inner self, our old ways of thinking, to confess our sins so that our lives are in sync with God's purpose. In the story of the demon possessed man, Jesus models this kingdom living. Come to Sunday service and hear the challenge, learn how to go the extra mile, and proclaim that Jesus has come to seek and save the lost!

“Do you know the way?” Most of us some time in our lives have asked or been asked that exact question. Whether traveling or at a shopping mall we have approached or been approached by a random person for directions. This question applies not just for navigating streets but also in life. Like “Do you know the way to get into a top 10 college?” “Do you know the way to parent better?” And even in the Bible, people asked, “Do you know the way to eternal life?” Jesus said, “I am the Way.” Join us this Sunday as we conclude our series “This is the Way!” based on 1 John. Come and see the freeing truth that Jesus is Life. “And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.” (1 John 5:11) The assurance of eternal life in Jesus frees us to live with a mindset that death is “not that bad.” “Christians who do the most for this present world are those who think most of the next. Aim at heaven and you’ll get earth ‘thrown in’; aim at earth and you’ll get neither.” (C.S. Lewis)

“You can’t have your cake and eat it too.” This popular proverb literally means “you cannot retain possession of a cake and eat it, too.” Once the cake is eaten, it’s gone forever. Another way to say this is “you can’t have it both ways.” In the early church, many early believers were treating their newfound faith in this fashion, where popular culture and false teaching were undermining Jesus’ way. That as long as my thinking was good, my behavior was no big deal; as long as my spiritual soul was good, the sins of my earthly body did not matter. The Apostle John in his letter, 1 John, warned the early church of this kind of bifurcated thinking. Today Christians can still be susceptible to this wrong kind of living. Sound doctrine goes hand and hand with sound lifestyle. Come explore together 1 John and see how Jesus wants us to be. This is the Way!

Did you know that the word "suffering" is mentioned mret in 1 Peter than any other books in the Bible? Peter also says to hold on to our heavenly hopes and repeatedly check the condition of our hearts, and a way of life, that only makes sense if we are absolutely sure that we will have a great reward in heaven. So in today's message, he admonishes us to finish well during tough times.
