27 The Gospel

This is message 27 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 The gospel is the message necessary for someone to be saved, meaning to have forgiveness of sins. The gospel has three parts, each essential for salvation to be made available for man. The three parts are the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 06 The Birth of a Church

In the book of 1 Thessalonians, the Bible speaks about Paul, Silvanus, Timotheus, and the church of the Thessalonians. Where did it all begin? Here we find a "case study" of the birth of a local church. Of course, it began in the heart and mind of God, but God records it for us in the book of Acts.

26 Not the Author of Confusion

This is message 26 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 14:21-40 Paul has been working at attempting to give clarity over the use of tongues. The Corinthian church has misused this sign gift, even coveting and desiring it as a sign of status and spirituality. Paul now attempts to put things in order, by giving rules to using tongues. 25 Excel to the Edifying of the Church

This is message 25 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 14:1-20 Pride makes people very selfish. Instead of being selfish, we need to think of others and how to help others. The gifts that God gives us are for the purpose of building or helping the church, not to build or puff ourselves up. 23 When That Which is Perfect is Come

This is message 23 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 13:1-13 The signs gifts were a temporary miracle provided by God for the First Century Church to prove that this new institution of the Church was indeed from God. As more and more scripture was completed, the need for sign gifts became less and less. The that was perfect was come that signs ceased. 05 One Pearl of Great Price

Our Lord emphasized the value of the church. In the fifth kingdom parable. Christ taught that Israel is God's treasure. Israel rejected her Messiah and was hidden, or set aside, for a time. This sixth kingdom parable allows us to see that God's work was not finished when Christ was rejected by the Jews. His work in this world continues through His church. The church is this "one pearl of great price."

22 The Body of Christ

This is message 22 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 12:12-31 There are two views of what is meant by church in the Bible. Some people claim that the church refers to an invisible mystical body that people become a part of once they accept Christ as their Saviour. Others lean towards the emphasis of a local church. Good people are on both views. Using proper biblical hermeneutics, we can discover which view 1 Corinthians 12 teaches. 04 Worship And Serve The Lord Together As A Family

The light is going out in our nation. The great influence of America is diminishing. The only hope we have as a nation is for revival. If we are not going to lift high the banner of Christ and be an example of godliness for the world, we will have no light to shine. The light that is left is the lift found in Bible-preaching churches. And of course, the light that is left is the light in Christian homes. May God help each of us determine to have a Christian home.

06 The Kohathites

This is message 6 in Labor in the Church. Numbers 3:14-37 The Kohathites had the unique privilege of bearing the furniture of the Tabernacle. However, they complained about the labor. This eventually caused them to rebel against their Biblical authority, which had awful consequences. Yet amid this, there is always hope for the home. 05 Slightly

This is message 5 in Labor in the Church. Jeremiah 8:4-22 This is the sad condition we find in America. It’s fine to be a believer, but don’t be serious about. Just be ‘slightly’ religious. Our lives, churches and school are just slightly different than the world. It won’t work. We are doing more harm with a “slightly” Christianity than helping. 03 Make Your House a Christian Home

A Christian home is a home where people are living their faith each day. Many people who are Christians do not have Christian homes because they are not putting the things God has instructed into their homes. In this lesson, we will learn that God's Word gives us the ingredients of a Christian home and tells us the responsibilities of each individual in that home.

This is message 21 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 12:12-26 The Holy Spirit places people into a specific body with a specific purpose. 20 Spiritual Gifts

This is message 20 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 Spiritual gifts are not the same as natural gifts. Some naturally gifted people are not godly. When anyone gets saved, the Holy Spirit gives them gifts. The use of these gifts also doesn’t make them godly. The Corinthians had all the gifts; they, however, were the most carnal and worldly of believers. 02 The Foundation of Marriage

The Bible says that God has made us spirit, soul, and body. God has designed that marriage be more than a unity; it is to be a union. This union is not to be just a oneness in body, but a oneness in spirit, soul, and body. The spiritual union that we have with God and one another is of greatest importance; it lays the foundation for everything else. Let us look to God's Word and find the things that will help us to establish this union.

19 Memorial Supper – The Lord’s Supper

This is message 19 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 11:17-24 The Lord's Supper is a time when we remember the Lord Jesus Christ and His finished work at Calvary to forgive us our sins. 18 The Head of Every Man is Christ

This is message 18 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 11:1-16 Paul is still dealing with difficulties in the church. The matters under discussion, despite what Paul says about them, remain the most controversial and complex in church life. Opinions differ over the next several chapters as they did with the original issues centuries ago in the Corinthian church. Things that are big deals to some people are not big deals to God. There are more important issues to take care of. Submit and move on. This is message 17 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 10:15-33 This passage continues the question sent to the Apostle Paul dealing with the question of eating meats dedicated to idols. 01 Faith in God

There are times when it appears as if the foundations have been destroyed. Do not be troubled. It only appears to be so. David faced such a time in his life as a young man in the palace of Saul. The leader of Israel was not doing right, and it seemed as if the foundations were destroyed. David learned not to trust in the king of Israel but rather in the King of heaven. He knew that God Almighty was still on His throne.

16 But God is Faithful

This is message 16 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 10:1-14 We all go through the same things in life. None of us have a unique case that nobody else ever went through. How we respond is our test. Some people state that God will never give us more than we can handle. That is not what vs. 13 says. God will give us more than we can handle, but with it give us a way of escape. That way is Jesus Christ. 15 Woe is Unto Me if I Preach Not the Gospel

This is message 15 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 9:15-27 Paul said he would rather die than not preach the gospel. When he preaches the gospel, it is not about himself but the Lord. He preaches the gospel because of the Lord compelling him. He has no freedom but to follow God’s will, often choosing to suffer to win the more. 14 Should Live of the Gospel – The Preacher’s Pay

This is message 14 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 9:1-15 As the church of Corinth criticized the Apostle Paul, he found he had to defend his apostleship in order to defend the gospel. This background also included defending the preacher’s pay and position. A healthy church should be responsible for taking care of its investment in the preacher. 13 The Conclusion of the Whole Matter

Our lives are simplified when we accept God's conclusion concerning life. He says, "Fear God and keep his commandments." We can know what God desires for us because we have His Word. We must simply fear Him and do what He would have us to do. This is the conclusion of the whole matter.

12 Every Man His Own Wife

This is message 12 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 7:1-40 In chapter 7, Paul is answering a question asked by the church. The question they asked showed their lack of spirituality. With everything going on in the church, they should have been asking how to deal with the other issues. Instead, the big question they wanted to know: to express their spirituality the married men wanted to demonstrate their spirituality by not having relations with their wives. Paul not only addresses their question but uses this as a backdrop to address the principle of marriage and serving the Lord. 11 Flee Fornication

This is message 11 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 6:12-20 Fornication deals with any sexual sin. Any of us are capable of anything and at anytime if our flesh is strong. 12 Our Day of Departure

In the last chapter of the Ecclesiastes, a sermon about life, God directs our attention to the subject of death. Unless the Lord Jesus comes in our lifetime, we are all going to face death. Our bodies will return to the earth, and we will go to meet God. We must make preparation for eternity. As we consider how quickly our years are passing by, we should realize that the time to live for the Lord is now. Let us not waste another day.

10 Take the Wrong

This is message 10 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 6:1-11 The principle to follow to keep peace and settle disputes is to take the wrong. Pride blows up so many relationships. If we allow people to be wrong, or allow us to be wrong, things won't blow up so much. What is wrong with allowing people to be wrong? Why do we have the need to always be right? Can we trust God to work on people and the circumstances? God can do a better job teaching and convincing someone than we can. 09 A Little Leaven Leaventh the Whole Lump

This is message 9 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 5 The church was to practice church discipline. Why is this so effective then? The church was so important to the people that the thought of not being a part of it was a terrifying idea. The purpose of church discipline is not to harm or hurt people but cause them to repent and come back to the Lord. 08 Puffed Up

This is message 8 in 1 Corinthians 1 Corinthians 4 Paul is still dealing with the carnality in the church. In addition, the church of Corinth had a huge pride problem. "Puffed up" means "inflated". It is used throughout the book of Corinthians to describe their pride. Pride is having a false view of oneself. Because of this false view it affected their actions.
