John, Robbie and Scott are joined by Michael for a busy show with plenty of quality football chat. We kick off by discussing how the Scottish teams got on in Europe with their being mixed fortunes. Rangers were the only ones who won but there was an encouraging performance by Aberdeen in Germany. Something that we've bemoaned for a while is the lack of youngsters getting regular minutes in the Scottish Premiership. In particular we focus on the lack of Scottish youngsters playing regularly in the top flight and discuss why this might be. There is chat about identity, Director of Football role in Scotland and much more. Robbie guides us through a quick review of Scotland's defeat against England in the Nations League. We discuss the contract given to Pedro Martinez Losa and hopefully a bright future under him. To round off the show we take a look at the weekend action as St Mirren continue to impress, referees don't and Aberdeen get their first league win of the campaign. Regulars John, Erin and Scott are joined by new regular Robbie for the latest episode. Returning guest Graeme joins us as well as debutant Jenna. There is plenty to discuss but we start off by calling out the abuse that Erin has got recently for appearances elsewhere. Remember if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all. European adventures are the focal point at start of the football chat with us discussing how the teams will do and whether they will progress. We reflect on results last week which put them all in with a decent chance. This integrates with some of the weekend action as we discuss goal of the week and impressive performances from the likes of Ross County, Motherwell and St Mirren. Graeme brings up the rumour about Shankland moving to Saudi Arabia which leads us to an interesting game of higher or lower. Our new weekly headline feature sees some good ones provided. Feel free to get involved on Twitter if you have one of your own. To conclude the podcast we discuss the article on fanzine SIWY and their anti Youtube sentiment which leads to some interesting talking points. Regulars John, Dave, Erin and Josh are joined by guests Danny and Laurie as we discuss the opening weekend of the Premiership season in the main. To kick things off though, Dave gives us a quick review of Dundee United's win at Gayfield on Friday. Everyone is in agreement that there was excitement going in to the season and we discuss what fans enjoy most about the first day of a new season. We're all in agreement that laughing at Hibs is always pleasing. We review the games in the Premiership with Killie grabbing the headlines with their win against Rangers. There are positives too from a Scotland point of view with David Turnbull having a strong start to the season. There is some fun to be had as we discuss pet hates in football which could probably be a podcast in itself. Cold pies and team lineups being put out in a certain way being a popular theme. In a new feature, we get everyone to come up with a headline from the games at the weekend with Danny being the winner this week. To conclude we have quick predictions about how the Scottish teams will do in their first legs this week. Next Sunday sees the return of the SWPL1 season and John B is joined by regular Dave and guests Chris Marshall and Emma Black. After the dramatic events of "Taxi Sunday", will we see another closely contested title race between Glasgow City, Celtic and Rangers? Will Hearts and Hibs be able to bridge the gap on the top three? Who will be making the top six and scrapping it at the bottom end of the table? It promises to be another enthralling season in the Women's game in Scotland. Although Scotland aren't there, we couldn't avoid discussing a remarkable World Cup where some big nations like Germany, Canada and Brazil have fallen at the first hurdle, whilst Jamaica, South Africa, Nigeria and Morocco are unlikely names in the last 16. It shows the gap between the bigger nations and the rest is slowly narrowing. We end by talking about our chances of a good Nations League campaign, where there is hope that the Hampden attendance record can be beaten, despite some challenging circumstances. SFF Podcast is proud to support the Women's game in Scotland and we plan more specials as the season progresses. Is it possible that two clubs who finished in bottom six last season have had best transfer window? There are predictions in terms of league position and who will finish as top scorer for each club. A fun feature is getting everyone to discuss what signing from the other clubs that they would want to steal. As always everyone is excited about the new season. We discuss a range of topics including summer signings, where teams still need to strengthen and predictions for where teams will finish in the league. The guys are back to discuss the double header against Norway and Georgia where we made it four wins from four as we look to head to Euro 2024. The two John's are joined by Dave, Josh, Krys and Scott M where there is a bonus of a quiz too. There is chat about whether the correct decision was made for Georgia game to be played and the mentality of the players under Steve Clarke. It's becoming a habit where we talk about Scotland wins and their ranking in the all time lists with our away win in Norway being a potential contender. Josh was lucky enough to be in Oslo so gives us an insight in to the trip and the bits he can remember. There is chat around managerial changes with six different clubs changing manager at least once during the season and then the Celtic announcement at the end of the season. Should changes have been made earlier and were there some managers who were lucky to stay in a job? The guys discuss whether their expectations were met this season, some of the players of the season and who some of the best signings were. There is plenty of banter between everyone with some interesting questions which makes for fantastic discussion. One thing is for sure and that is everyone is passionate about their club and Scottish football. It's the show of all shows as we provide a comprehensive review of the season. Hopefully you all enjoy it as much as we did while recording. Good luck to Scotland for their upcoming double header against Norway and Georgia which we will be back to review on Wednesday. On the latest podcast, John is joined by returning guests from last week as Michael and Ross are on to talk about their respective teams success at the weekend. To begin with we reflect on a remarkable Premiership Playoff Final where Partick Thistle looked to have sealed promotion only for events to take a massive turn. We reflect on both games, the crucial events and Ross gives us an insight in to what it was like to be at Dingwall on Sunday. There is no doubt that the occasion was a fantastic advert for Scottish football. Michael reflects on Celtic's Scottish Cup win as they secured an eighth treble in their history as they defeated Inverness. The main talking point though is the potential loss of Ange Postecoglou as he looks set to join Spurs. We discuss what this may mean going forward and potential candidates to replace him. On our latest episode regulars John, Dave, Jeff and Scott J are joined by guests Michael from @LockerRoomIndy https://twitter.com/LockerRoomIndy and Ross from @thecountycorner https://twitter.com/thecountycorner The main focus of the podcast is the upcoming playoff final between Partick Thistle and Ross County. We discuss where the tie may be won or lost, Ross's nerves and who the guys think will win. John B was at the Women's Scottish Cup final on Sunday and he provides us with some pre and post match interviews with fans of both clubs. It's been an interesting time in Dundee over the last few days with both clubs confirming managerial appointments. Jeff gives an insight in to the rebuilding job that is required at Dundee United while we chat about how Tony Docherty might do at Dundee. This leads on to the impact it may have at Kilmarnock as Derek McInnes may look to freshen up his coaching team. We preview the Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Inverness with some chat about whether Ange Postecoglou may be tempted to move down south for a fresh challenge. The podcast concludes with a brief preview of the Junior Cup final and chat about the Scotland squad announcement. It's another Women's Football Special as John B and Dave are joined by two Clare's, ex-Rangers player Clare Gemmell and Celtic podcaster Clare Wilde of 90 minute Cynic. We review what was a dramatic ending to the SWPL1 title race that were played out at Ibrox and Celtic Park, an incredible statement in itself for the Women's game. In a three-way battle for the title, it looked as though Celtic were about to become Champions for the first time, but Lauren Davidson snatched an injury time winner to wrestle the title from their grasp, and also take the crown back from Rangers who were also in the hunt. It meant that the taxi taking Fiona McIntyre and the trophy to Celtic Park was rerouted to Ibrox, but to hand it to Glasgow City who claimed a 16th title, which is considered their sweetest success. Dave spoke to Leanne Ross and Hayley Lauder at full time to gauge their reaction. The rest of the league season is then rounded off where Hearts made some great strides by finishing fourth, Aberdeen ended a troubled season with the announcement of looking for a full time manager, and there was a battle to avoid the relegation playoff between Dundee United and Hamilton that went to a final day shootout between the two sides. We also speak about the importance of all sides in the league investing to try and close the gap on the big Glasgow three. All thoughts then turn to Hampden for Sunday's Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers. Can Celtic make up for the disappointment of last weekend by retaining the Cup they beat Glasgow City to win this time last year? Can Rangers compensate missing out on Champions League football by adding a first ever Scottish Cup to the Sky Sports League Cup they collected in December? What is certain is that there will be a good crowd heading to the National Stadium for the big game. In another throwback special, we look back twenty years to season 2002/03 which saw the league come down to a final day shootout, a trip to a European final for Celtic, and seventh treble for Rangers. John B is joined by regular retro specialist Krys for the Celtic perspective and returning guest John W for the Rangers perspective. We look at the remarkable mirror of results the two sides had, with one title defining exception, as well of course at the five showdowns the two sides had across the season. Discussing the various qualities that both sides had at that time, as well as the fate of a few other clubs that season, the focus inevitably turns to that remarkable run which took Celtic not just to Europe after Christmas for the first time in twenty years, but all the way to a European final for the first time in thirty three years. One which Krys was fortunately enough to attend in person. But it was Rangers who would finish the season with all of the domestic trophies in their cabinet, from the League Cup final between the two rivals, to the goal chase of the final day, and on to a Scottish Cup final where a few people may have been a little worse for wear! So who had the better summer? Which side would you rather have been on? 11 May 1983, a day forever etched in the history of Aberdeen Football Club as they defeated Real Madrid to win the European Cup Winners Cup. In this throwback special, John B is joined by journalist and avid-Dons fan Graham Hunter, who goes through his memories on what it was like growing up supporting the Dons and the lead up to that amazing night, one which he says inspired him to go to Spain many years later. He is then joined by historian Kevin Stirling, who has written a book called "Aberdeen's Greatest Games", which unsurprisingly includes the glory in Gothenburg. It's been another compelling season in the Championship, League One and League Two and John B is joined by Lower League expert Ally Graham, Falkirk Fan Alan Risk and Stirling Albion fan Craig Brown to go through the trials and tribulations of the last ten months. The conversation begins with the controversial Conference League plans, which have not been well received across the board. They then move onto review the regulation league campaigns, with Craig reflecting on his side's promotion from League Two, Alan wondering if Falkirk will finally get out of League One via the playoffs, and Ally gloating on trouncing the SFF guys in the Predictions League 18-13. He'll be back for more next season. We also discuss the enthralling last game between Queens Park and Dundee, which should be used as a selling point for the lower leagues. With the playoffs now coming up, the guys give their thoughts on who will preserve their status and who will win promotion. It's the latest of our Women's Football review as John B and Dave take a look at recent events in the Scottish game. The Scotland National Team had a good Easter weekend with a 1-0 win over World Cup hosts Australia in London, and followed this up with a resounding 4-0 win over Costa Rica at Hampden. 17 year old Emma Watson grabbed most of the headlines with two eye catching performances, and two goals at the National Stadium, and the guys talk up her prospects, including a potential move to Manchester United though staying at Rangers can't be ruled out. With the inaugral Nations League draw looming, it was two confidence boosting wins for Pedro Martinez Losa's side as they seek to reach the next European Championship Finals in 2025. Before last weekend, Glasgow City were eight points clear of Celtic and nine ahead of defending champions Rangers. Consecutive home defeats to the Old Firm within four days has whittled that gap down to just three points between the three sides. Can Leanne Ross galvanise her side to recover from those setbacks and reclaim the title, or will one of their city rivals pounce? At the other end, Aberdeen took a huge step towards safety with consecutive wins over Hamilton and Dundee United, taking them eight points clear of Accies in that playoff position. The battle to face the SWPL1's 11th placed side is intensifying with seven points seperating four teams, with Montrose closing in on the SWPL2 title thanks to a commanding ten point advantage. It's a big weekend in the Women's game as the Scottish Cup Semi Finals take place, and the first time both will be at Hampden. Treble-chasing Rangers face underdogs Motherwell on Saturday at 1230pm, whilst it's a repeat of last seasons final on Sunday as holders Celtic take on Glasgow City, again at 1230. Tickets are £10 adult £5 concessions so anyone who can should get along to the National Stadium for potentially two cracking Semi Finals. We discuss lack of leadership on the pitch, who should leave at the end of the season and what Naismith needs to do for the rest of the season. The latest podcast sees us review the Scotland v Cyprus game from Saturday where we won 3-0. The two John's, Josh and guest Grant Campbell are on to discuss how the game went. We take a slightly different approach to this as we go through the team individually, assess their performance and give them a rating out of 10. There is discussion around how good the performance was and the impact in particular made by the subs that Clarke made. This then leads on to whether those who came off the bench should start against Spain and how we expect to line up. Can we defeat Spain for a famous win under the floodlights? The guys give their predictions. Following on from this we then pick a combined Scotland/Spain team from the starting lineups on Saturday. To finish off we have a Scotland quiz that is based mostly on Euro qualifying campaigns.
