Dr. Jim Arcand, D.C. (Grants Pass, OR), Chiropractor, discusses the two basic forms of physical pain: acute and chronic. Acute pain, for the most part, results from disease, inflammation or injury to tissues. It is immediate and usually of short duration and a normal response to injury. Chronic pain is continuous pain that persists for more than three months. The cause is not always evident and can often interfere with a patient's quality of life, sleep and productivity. Second guest, Bob Fuhrmann (Wyoming), Education Director with Yellowstone National Park, discusses the majestic beauty of America’s first national park. The practice of medicine is now at a crossroad. Countless patients are being treated simultaneously with both Western and Oriental medicine. It is quite common for a patient to seek herbal treatments while taking several prescription medications. According to Journal of American Medical Association (JAMA), an estimated 15 million adults in the United States (representing 18.4% of all prescription pharmaceutical users) took prescription drugs concurrently with herbal remedies and/or vitamins in 1997. In 2017, more than 170 million Americans (76%) take dietary supplements, according to the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN). Consumers spent more than 338 billion dollars in prescription drugs, and $36 billion dollars on vitamins, minerals and herbal supplements in 2017. In this talk show, some commonly and higher risk of herb and drug interactions will be discussed. This will help to minimize potential conflicts and risk of potentially dangerous herb and drug interactions.

Rebecca Petris started The Dry Eye Company and this website in 2005 as a dry eye information portal and community center for her fellow dry eye patients. Since then, it's grown and expanded in various ways, all focused on improving quality of life for people with dry eye. The Irlen Method is the only research-based method using colored overlays and filters. There are over 4,000 educators in school districts who have been trained, and millions of children use Irlen colored overlays and it is now being used in over 42 countries. The Irlen Method is non-invasive technology that uses colored overlays and filters to improve the brain's ability to process visual information. It is the only method scientifically proven to successfully correct the processing problems associated with Irlen Syndrome.
