On this episode of Fuel For Life, I interview my good friend and fellow church planter Aleksei Kharlamov. Aleksei immigrated to the San Francisco Bay Area eight years ago from Moscow, Russia. Aleksei and his wife Lera are planting a new church, Spring Church, in Moraga, CA, in the East Bay Area of Northern California. In this incredible interview, Aleksei tells the story of his life leading up to planting Spring Church. Aleksei, with passion, clarity, and, at times, tears, shares the story of his radical salvation, as he surrendered his life to Jesus. He recalls what it was like to grow up and be a pastors kid, candidly shares about his parents divorce and what it was like to grow up in a church, including meeting his wife. Aleksei also shares, with incredible transparency, how God called him and his wife to move to the Bay Area from Moscow, Russia, how he almost lost his entire family, and how God radically saved him. As I interviewed Aleksei, I could not help shedding tears, as his full testimony is dripping with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. This interview speaks powerfully to the radical nature of Gods grace. Our Lord is indeed the great Hound of Heaven. On this episode of Fuel For Life, I interview my good friend and fellow pastor, Gheorghe Rosca, Jr. Gheorghe is a Founding Board Member at (POK), a coalition of parents, community leaders, attorneys, physicians, pastors, teachers and concerned citizens united in the belief that today’s public schools threaten our children’s welfare. Public schools have a role in educating children on matters of basic biology, anatomy, and reproduction. However, the promotion of se*ual intimacy, se*ual orientation and fluid gender identities are matters that far exceed the rightful boundaries of the public-school system. So too is the advancement of Marxist Critical Theory ideology and the “re-framing” of American history to indoctrinate children into politically driven and misleading narratives. Taken together, these serve as a clarion call of the dangers to children in the public schools and, by extension, our society. POK exists to inform parents about the scope of these combined threats, their rights as parents, and to protect our kids from the harms of public-school indoctrination. Pastor Gheorghe is the eighth of twelve children, born in Romania under the communist regime of Nicolae Ceaucescu. His family immigrated to the states legally in 1991. He grew up in Southern California and lives in Orange with his wife and four children. He pastors New Hope church in Placentia, CA. He holds a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and an MBA with an emphasis in Project Management from California Polytechnic University. As a registered Civil Engineer in the state of California, he leads diverse teams on large transportation infrastructure projects. As a Founding Board Member, he is passionate about protecting the freedoms granted in the Constitution that are aligned with the values of the Founding Fathers for future generations. In this Final Sermon of The Generous Life series Pastor Dmitry Kvasnyuk will be concluding with a discussion of the Beauty of Giving Regularly from 2 Corinthians Chapter 9. This message hopes to help cultivate a generous heart in the people of God.
This three-week series entitled, A Generous Life: The Beauty In Giving, takes an uplifting look at the topic of giving, showing the blessing to be found in a consciously generous life, one which imitates the generosity of God himself. Biblical generosity seeks to please God rather than seeking human reward or acclaim. A giving life is one that does not compare giftedness or resource with others; it is giving God your all, not somebody else’s, knowing that he sees what you have and will reward you at the resurrection. In this first sermon in this series, Pastor Bogdan teaches Five Principles that flow from this text that show us what A Generous Life looks like. Lets get ready to find hope in Jesus, by listening to this message. You are saved to serve. In this passage, Paul encourages his readers to continue to grow in their character (vv. 1–3), in their gifts (vv. 11–12), in their knowledge of the truth (vv. 13–15), and in their love for one another (vv. 2, 15–16). Paul mentions gifts as given by the grace of God and reminds us that their purpose is to prepare God’s people to serve (vv. 7, 11–12). Yet he tells his readers to be sure to grow in their character, instructing them to walk in humility, gentleness, peace, and love (vv. 1–3). We tend to place a lot of attention on our gifts and talents, but our character deserves the most attention. When our character is ready, God will give us the grace for our gifts to grow. * In this passage, Paul explains that the turning point of history is God’s plan of redemption made evident by Jesus Christ. The mystery was built up for generations, revealed in pieces through the Law and the Prophets, and now the culmination is this, that God would send his own Son to live, die, and rise again in order to save humanity. We forgive the inexcusable done to us because God in Christ has forgiven the inexcusable done by us. How many of us have felt the pain of strained relationships, conflicts in relationships, the disintegration of relationships, and deep down inside, all we ever actually wanted was peace and reconciliation? Christ formed in us, is the salve for that wound, a solution to the pain we feel. Forgiveness is hard. Reconciliation is hard. But we as Christians do hard things. Because we have a loving God who has equipped us for good works, therefore we walk in them. Thats the whole point of us being a masterpiece in progress. We are saved by God for good works, not by our good works. So lets walk in those good works. This is the message that Paul is conveying here to the Ephesian church and to us. By Gods providence, we are studying these verses today that are talking about death, the course of this world, the prince of the power of the air, and the spirit that is not at work in the son of disobedience. Doesnt that sound like the world in which we are living right now, with all that is happening? How can we walk faithfully, doing good works, while at the same time, seeing all the bad that is happening in the world? Lets get ready to find hope in Jesus, by listening to this message. Whats the bravest prayer you can pray? What is the hardest thing you can believe God for during this series were in? We believe that prayer isnt a button to be pushed, its a relationship to be pursued. This brand new sermon series that Pastor Bogdan at Forward Church is beginning, walks through the book of Ephesians, emphasizing God’s action at work in our lives both to restore us to Himself and to restore our relationships with each other. Discussing the issues of God’s sovereignty, his plan of redemption, his grace, and our responsibility to love one another and to pray, this series will communicate that God has a divine plan to reconcile the world to Himself, and he wants to use us to do it. In this message, we will learn God is a sovereign architect with a master plan to redeem humanity. The good news for us is that we can know God personally and be a part of his master plan through Jesus. Lets get ready to find hope in Jesus, by listening to this message. As Christians, how can we have assurance that we truly are saved and belong to God? When we doubt our salvation, our temptation is to look at our behavior and performance to determine whether we’re saved. However, that isn’t the direction Paul points us. Instead of looking at ourselves, Paul tells us to look back at the cross and how God loved us when we were his enemies. God saves people on the basis of their faith, not their performance, and this brings us new peace and security in our relationship with God. The image that best illustrates Christianity isnt a ladder that you have to climb up to get to God but rather a cross where God decided to come down to us. It’s been said that the gospel, or the good news, is like an ocean, but in the sense that it is so incredibly accessible, that children can wade into it and understand it, and also the most learned theologians keep diving as deep as they can into it and they still have not found the bottom of it, meaning as much as they understand it, they still know how much more there is to understand. That’s why there’s hope for us. This is the type of message that is going to be simple but not simplistic. Simple as in those new in Christ can understand it and deep enough for those walking with Christ for a while to once again be reminded of how truly deep the love of God for us really is. The parable of the vineyard reveals that God brings all into his kingdom, not just the successful or those who were there first. Through the parable of the laborers, Jesus is emphasizing that in God’s kingdom, all come to him on an equal playing field. Whether you are rich or poor, have been a Christian your entire life, or have just begun the journey, there is no one who is better than another. Understanding that we get equal wages for unequal work will make us kinder, gentler, more compassionate disciples, who are being formed into the image of Christ. Thats the goal. Christ formed in us. The parable of the talents teaches us that God expects us to be advancing his kingdom until Christ’s return, not sitting idle. We will be a people who look for new opportunities to advance God’s kingdom in the world. This parable applies not just to currency but to everything God has entrusted us with. We must learn to be wise stewards of all that God has given to us. Its not about how much you have, but rather what you do with what you have. God came to seek and save the lost. In response to God’s grace, He calls us to change and make amends for the past. Jesus approaches the crowds in Jericho, walks right through them, and goes straight to the tree Zacchaeus has climbed. He looks up at Zacchaeus (v. 5) and tells him to come down because Jesus needs to stay in his house. Who is seeking whom here? We’re told Zacchaeus is seeking Jesus, but it is very clear both from Jesus’s actions and words that Jesus is seeking out Zacchaeus. This invitation brings Zacchaeus great joy (v. 6). Here we see that Zacchaeus is already becoming a new creation in Christ, for in response to the people grumbling about him Zacchaeus announces he will give away half his money and restore fourfold any money taken wrongfully (v. 8)! Jesus seeking out Zacchaeus is a picture of his pursuit of each of us. Lets get ready to find hope in Jesus, by listening to this message.
