How A Stylist Champions Individuality On Social Media With Fede Damians

INTERVIEW WITH FEDE DAMIANS Fede Damians is a 25-year-old, Italian Bleach & vivids specialist. He/they have been in the industry for 10 years and moved to UK in 2019 intending to work at Not AnotherSalon. After they achieved it and stayed there for two years, Fede decided to go freelance and open up to new clients and the education business.  During the last few years, Fede also became an official Pulpriot artist and Pulpriot UK educator, blonde solutions artist, B3 sponsored, and was featured in magazines like Creative Head and Hairdresser Journal. In January 2024, Fede opened a small new studio, becoming a salon owner. Their biggest dream is to incorporate a philosophy of "Freedom of Expression" in the global hair industry. Help other businesses to become more inclusive, not only with Gender neutral price lists and working easily with any type of hair ... but also with more accessibility for disabilities (hidden ones and not). Mental health, breaking stigmas and stereotypes are their favorite parts of being an Educator, creating “FHAIRY EDUCATION”. In 2023, Fede also won the " L'Oréal Colour Trophy- Moving Image Award" competition, becoming the first freelance stylist to win that category. Fede also loves the business and social media side of this industry, and since September has been able to reach a total of 1.3M accounts through their social media accounts with vivid and pastel colors and, probably, that incredible Italian/UK accent. So, she created a NU Standard to ensure no woman ever does.  NU Standard is a revolutionary company with a hair wellness approach toward textured hair. The products aren’t just for black women because it’s a black-owned company, NU Standard’s products are designed to help all women with textured hair. It’s about setting a NU Standard in the haircare industry and helping women overcome their hair challenges and achieve their hair goals But it’s not just about hair wellness. Autumn caters to busy women on the go whether they work from home, corporate America or spend the day as CEO of their families. Bottom line: She understands some women have a few minutes not hours to get their hair just right, so they feel confident while avoiding what seems inevitable: hair damage and hair loss. Autumn wanted to create products that made it easy to care for textured hair without damaging or losing it. She was determined to develop a solution for her Busy Queens, especially those with textured hair, to prevent hair loss. Autumn’s blessing is that the haircare industry has been part of her life since birth. After all, her grandfather, Comer Cottrell Jr., created a haircare company in the late 60s that became a global company. Her mom created successful brands that still thrive and her father has helped restructure several haircare companies and some have grown into overnight successes. Autumn grew up in the business. She worked on the assembly line as an eight-year-old and dabbled in various departments until she went to college. After graduating from USC, Autumn found success in the world of finance and insurance. But the stress from running her company was starting to affect her hair. The more she thought about it, the more Autumn knew she needed to follow her passion and help those women with textured hair keep it healthy and strong. She initially struggled with changing her career midlife but she wanted to do something that would really affect people’s lives. To build her company, Autumn emphasized one of her grandfather’s tenets of business: Build a team of people who are smarter than you to make the dream come true. She set her ego aside and asked the best in the industry for help to build a NU Standard. LINKS: __ __ __

Men's Grooming Through the Years with American Crew's David Raccuglia

SPONSORED BY __ __ INTERVIEW WITH DAVID RACCUGLIA David Raccuglia is a man of many titles and accomplishments: company founder, entrepreneur and renowned photographer, but his first professional title was a hairstylist. He began his career as a stylist in the salon industry and today styling, and the salon community, continue to be his primary inspiration and motivation. After having traveled worldwide as a platform artist in the early 1980’s he opened his own salon. Frustrated by the lack of grooming options on the market, but inspired by what he recognized as a true need, David founded American Crew® in 1994, bringing his expertise from behind both the barber chair and the camera to develop the brand and its collection of grooming products designed for men and the stylists they trust. American Crew® quickly established itself as the leading manufacturer of quality salon products for men, offering a diverse portfolio including hair care, styling, shave and body products. Today, American Crew® continues to be the leading professional men’s grooming brand in the world.  David is also an accomplished photographer, contributing his talent in this area across books, magazine covers and rock albums. He has built success through a well-earned reputation for all things relevant, refined and modern. His vision of uncompromised quality is key to his success. Why The Cosmetology Licensure Compact Matters To You

SPONSORED BY __ __ SPONSORED BY __ __ INTERVIEW WITH LESLIE ROSTE Leslie Roste, RN, BSN graduated from the University of Kansas, where she studied Nursing and Microbiology. After leaving nursing, she began working in the professional beauty industry as a subject matter expert on infection control and public safety. She has written many articles and spoken to audiences large and small on infection control and chemical safety in the work environment and specializes in the salon and barber industry. In 2020, she became the lead grant applicant on the Cosmetology Compact, working with the Department of Defense and Council of State Governments (CSG) to develop model legislation. Leslie currently works with the CSG (Council of State Governments) on behalf of FBIC on enacting the Cosmetology Interstate Licensure Compact, securing true license mobility for cosmetologists. Previously, Leslie worked with cosmetology boards in over 30 states on the revision of infection control rules and required curriculums consistent with current science and occupational trends. Throughout Covid, she assisted states in developing re-opening guidelines and offered education in all virtual formats to help states re-open. She is a national exam item writer and participated in the Safe Nevada project as well as the Department of Labor Occupational Licensing Consortium.  Today we’re talking about the Cosmetology Interstate Licensure Compact. According to the Professional Beauty Association’s website The Cosmetology Compact is an interstate occupational licensure compact. Interstate compacts are constitutionally authorized, legislatively enacted, legally binding agreements among states. The Cosmetology Compact will enable licensed cosmetologists to practice in all states that join the compact, rather than getting an individual license in every state in which they want to practice. Like the compact for a driver’s license, each compact member state agrees to mutually recognize the practitioner licenses issued by every other member state. LINKS: __ __ CONTACT INFO:   __ __ __

So Much More Than A Perm

SPONSORED BY __ __ INTERVIEW WITH JANINE JARMAN Janine Jarman is a nationally renowned celebrity hairstylist and the founder of Hairroin Salon LA & NYC, the home of Hollywood and New York’s best tressed. Born and raised in Huntington Beach, CA, Jarman has been “hair-obsessed” for as long as she can remember. At the age of 15, she teamed up with her best friend to offer hair and makeup services to her party-bound classmates. Jarman then moved on to beauty school, and after graduating, she immediately began shooting for the stars.  Jarman steadily built a loyal client base until she was bit by the entrepreneurial bug in 2005. She purchased a failing salon and immediately re-branded and re-opened it as Hairroin Salon. Hairroin instantly became Tinseltown’s newest obsession, garnering Hollywood clientele including Florence Welch, Tommy Lee, Kylie Minogue, Danica Patrick, and Fergie. For many years Jarman was the key stylist and official hairdresser for the world’s most successful female pop group, The Pussycat Dolls. Jarman was the creator of their signature look, which led to work with celebrities such as Christina Applegate, Britney Spears, Lil’ Kim, and Carmen Electra. Jarman has also been the principal hairstylist for television shows including ”Beauty and the Geek,” “The Pussycat Dolls Present: The Search for The Next Doll,” endless commercial spots, and live shows like the MTV Movie Awards.  In 2010 she burst into the national spotlight as a finalist on the third season of Bravo’s hit show “Shear Genius.” Jarman instantly became a favorite among the judges and was voted Fan Favorite of her season, standing out for her fearless hair creations, free spirit, and endless amounts of energy. Having naturally curly hair herself, she leaned into using perms to solve texture issues her clients were facing – but felt the need to reimagine the traditional perm process, odor and environmental impact. This led her to Italy where she conjured up Curl Cult, delivering a simpler, healthier, more sustainable texturizing treatment with at-home curl support products even natural curls will love. The Future of Extensions...Or Should We Say Hair Solutions

INTERVIEW WITH BRANDON HUTCHINS Brandon Hutchins is practically a lifelong student of marketing, a passion he’s been cultivating since creating his own company right out of high school. “Back then, I wanted to know what motivated people to call me after seeing my advertisements,” he says, “and more importantly, what kept them coming back!” It’s this initial interest that’s blossomed into a 14-year career in professional sales and marketing across multiple industries. Brandon’s experience is robust, showcasing proven abilities in direct technical sales and marketing strategy and implementation -- domestically and internationally. He’s a people person and multilingual, two skills that have served him well in creating and maintaining international marketing and distribution channels in his various positions. Brandon currently serves as Beauty Industry Group’s President of Professional Brands, leading a team in conceptualizing, coordinating and maintaining successful marketing and advertising campaigns throughout the worldwide beauty supply market. It’s a position he enjoys because he’s constantly afforded opportunities to learn and discover new marketing trends. In a field that can be fickle and indefinable, Brandon’s focus is unwavering: Create crisp and organic marketing campaigns that resonate and create growth. “What interests me is how it just all comes back to people and the relationships you create with them,” he says. “There are always new theories, this year’s hottest marketing trends and new advertising tactics but ultimately, people just want a good experience with a good product or service.” LINKS:  __ __ __

Should The FDA Be Doing More To Regulate Beauty?

INTERVIEW WITH LISA GOSHON Lisa Goshon is the President of Leadership Group International LLC aka LGI Branding.  LGI is a woman-minority-owned, global brand strategist corporation, specializing in the import and export of consumer product goods for safety and new product development for beauty accessories. During the pandemic, they shifted their focus to include creating beauty products with an emphasis on safety and sustainability.  In August 2022, at the Bronner Bros. International Hair Show in Miami, Lisa successfully launched their first beauty product, RAXX-4-Wigs. RAXX-4-Wigs is the first “over-the-door” wig rack designed to store wigs and replace those ghastly styrofoam heads traditionally used.  Continuing her crusade to create innovative, safe, beauty products Lisa took her ingenuity to a new level.  Last January, she partnered with 3M, the global leader in “stick to skin” medical adhesive to create the revolutionary product, “Goodbye Glue."   Goodbye Glue are the first "medical-grade" adhesive strips designed to attach false eyelashes. Made with hypoallergenic material, Goodbye Glue strips are chemical-free, last 24 hours, are water resistant and super easy to apply.  Not only are they FDA-approved but the safest, healthiest way to apply false eyelashes.  The best part is they require no drying time and don't require assistance putting them on. Goodbye Glue is the beginning of many more "cutting-edge" products to come, according to Lisa.  Stay tuned… Links:  __ __ __ __ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/readthetease/ (readthetease) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/kellyehlers/ / (KellyEhlers) Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/eljeffreycraig/ (eljeffreycraig) Web: https://www.thetease.com https://www.thetease.com/ (TheTease.com) Email: VolumeUp@TheTease.com Credits: Volume Up is a Tease Media production.
