Among the many new Japanese TV series to hit the airwaves this Fall, Bocchi the Rock deserves a mention. The upcoming animated series follows the life of a shy and socially inept high school student who dreams of becoming a rock star. It is produced by CloverWorks, a studio known for high quality anime. It is being adapted from the 4-koma manga series by Aki Hamaji.
The story centers on a shy high school student, Hitori Goto, who wants to become a rock star. She spends six hours a day practicing guitar alone. She uploads a video of herself playing the guitar on the Internet and
is subsequently recruited to become a member of a band. The band is led by the lead singer and guitarist of a popular J-rock band.
The show's first episode was released in February 2018. Hitori, dubbed Bocchi-chan, meets Ijichi Nijika, a drummer from the band. After Nijika makes an offer, Hitori agrees to join the band.
Anime adaptation
Anime adaptation of Bocchi the Rock is set to premiere on October 8, 2022. The story revolves around a teenage girl who dreams of joining a rock band. Hitori is a shy and introverted girl who has trouble making friends. She dreams of playing guitar in a band.
The series follows Hitori as she finds her way. She spends six hours a day practicing on her guitar. She has no friends and has low self-esteem. The trailer also featured Ryo Yamada, a famous bass guitarist. Saku Mizuno is the voice actor for Ryo.
The series is written by Aki Hamaji and will receive an animated adaptation. The anime will premiere internationally on OTT streaming platforms.
