Wonder Woman reveals the story of Princess Diana before she shows up in the film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) as Wonder Woman.

Princess Diana is born and raised on a mysterious island sequestered away from the modern world with the Amazons - a race of female warriors created by the god Zeus.

One day, her idyllic life is disrupted when an American spy - Steve Trevor crashes on her island with the German army. The army tries to kill Steve as well as her people. Many of the Amazons died in the battle, including Diana’s aunt - Antiope.

Through Steve, Diana knows about World War I - a vast, intricate, and destructive war that has been destroying the world of man. Many towns were devastated, and millions of people were dead. But the war seems never to end.

That is when she discovers her true destiny. It is to leave home to find and defeat Ares - the god of the war hidden among the ranks of the German army. She believes that killing him will end the war and bring peace to the world.

Though her journey is far different from what she imagines, it fills with learning experiences – not all of them pleasant.

Her fantasy adventure escalates as she is confronted with male chauvinist and the greed of humans. However, she is still working with all her might to end this meaningless war.

But, once again, her faith is broken as even if she kills Ludendorff, who she believes is Ares. And Steve tells her that maybe the war happens because of the bad people, not the god.

In despair, Diana glimpses at Sir Patrick inside Ludendorff's office and realizes that he is Ares.

She tries to kill him, but he reveals to her that the darkness of people like Ludendorff leads to the war, not his power. He also tells her that she is the real God Killer made by Zeus.

Ares convinces Diana to join him and rid of the world of mankind. But she refuses, so he begins to kill Diana and all the people in the battle.

Steve sacrifices his life to save Diana and inspires her to believe in love - the true weapon to save the world.
