Sven Longshanks narrates from a century old book looking at political debate on what to do with free Negroes around the time of emancipation.
A department for colonisation was set up and land was purchased in Haiti, but the organiser failed to provide the Negroes with the promised food and housing and America had to go back there and rescue them.
Although Lincoln still believed in deportation and colonisation, the experience in Haiti and the suffering of the Negroes who went there convinced him not to continue with efforts to find new land to settle them upon.
