“Bucketheads” is LGHL’s men’s basketball podcast, hosted by Connor Lemons and Justin Golba. Every episode, they give you the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes and everything else happening in the college hoops world. On episode 94 of “Bucketheads”, Connor and Justin have three games to discuss. The Buckeyes won the Emerald Coast Classic and defeated Alabama and Santa Clara over the weekend to help lessen the blow of “The Game,” and then came home to Columbus and took down Central Michigan 88-61 to start the season 6-1. How real is this team? What has been different from last season so far? And the Buckeyes lost to Minnesota last season as the season started to snowball, time for revenge? The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they discuss Ohio State football, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of “Hangout in the Holy Land,” Josh and Chuck ignore Ohio State football completely and instead focus on basketball, wrestling, and synchronized swimming... Just kidding, but kudos to those Scarlet and Gray teams currently taking care of business. Still a little salty as a result of The Game, the Hangout Boys attempt to boost morale by talking a little roundball. Both of Ohio State’s basketball teams are currently thriving; one doing so rather unexpectedly. So what has been the key to the OSU men’s team’s hot start? And can Chris Holtmann’s squad keep it up? Elsewhere, some football was recently played. Have you heard? And it will continue to be played by teams seeking a blissful end to their 2023-24 season. However, Ohio State will likely not be one of them. So how can the Buckeyes improve this offseason, and put themselves in a better position to win big games — not just the ones they’re supposed to? Ohio State’s 2023 regular season is over. The college football schedule always seems long until the games begin and then before you know it, it’s gone. So it is again this year as the Buckeyes concluded their 2023 regular season at 11-1 after a bitter, 30-24 loss in Ann Arbor. The team was in it from start to finish, but couldn’t quite overcome an early interception that set up Michigan’s first touchdown after the Wolverines had done nothing up to that point on offense. Oh, the Buckeyes pulled level at one point, but they simply made too many errors and some questionable (and conservative) decisions, and that’s no way to handle The Game. We break down a tough day on the road in Ann Arbor, Kyle McCord’s poor start, Ryan Day’s key decisions, and more. We also wonder what happened to Jim Knowles’ defense after halftime. And we look back at our predictions and our picks to click to see how well we anticipated the happenings in the mitten state. We addressed fan concerns about Day and McCord and tried to look at it objectively in the cold light of day. Are there coaches who should be fired? Absolutely, and we tell you which ones. Wrapping up this week’s podcast, we looked at the other results around the Big Ten, as we usually do, but we also looked back at our preseason predictions to see how our soothsaying skills turned out. As usual, we seem to know much more about the Big Ten East than the West, but the same could be said for most people. Alas, we won’t have the divisions anymore, so the wild west will simply have to be wild without ramifications for the Big Ten title game. We’ll be here with you every week from now until the end of the 2023 Ohio State football season (and then monthly). We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email. Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of “Hangout in the Holy Land,” Josh and Chuck focus solely on The Game... In which Ohio State failed its mission, both on the field and on the sideline. Reluctantly, the Hangout Boys discuss all that went wrong for Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in Ann Arbor. Outcoached and outplayed in every facet, OSU is or should also be out of CFP contention and excuses. Where did it all go wrong? Did anything actually go right? And/or was this year’s outcome a further indictment on the Day regime? The guys talk through the pain and make some strong statements about the future of the Ohio State football program. Land-Grant’s Stick to Sports is unlike any podcast you’ve heard on the Ohio State beat. Your hosts, Matt Tamanini and Jami Jurich, will (of course) talk Ohio State sports, but the primary focus of the show will be on what’s going on around the periphery, such as weird/funny happenings in college football and the sports world at large, as well as other things that keep us interested in between games. On this episode of the Land-Grant Podcast Network's sports-adjacent podcast "Stick to Sports," Matt Tamanini and Jami Jurich are bringing markedly different vibes into Ohio State's rivalry game on Saturday. While Jami is guarding her heart by expecting the worst, Matt is feeling confident with his hope for the best. However, the pair dives into all of the bad and good things that will happen in the short-term and long-term for the Buckeyes' program based on the result of this year's edition of The Game, everything from Ryan Day's total vindication with a definitive win to existential uncertainty for the football program for the next decade with a third straight loss. Jami's Recommendation: "Sleigh" https://open.spotify.com/album/7FdbmYLZWDzsHC1uQqCu4V Matt's Recommendation: Don't feel like you have to do big holiday traditions if you don't want to. Throughout the year, the Land-Grant Podcast Network will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. On today's episode of "Land-Grant Uncut," we are bringing you unedited audio from the Tuesday, Nov. 21 player media availability featuring multiple Ohio State Buckeyes. With Thanksgiving on Thursday, players met with the media earlier than normal. We have audio from cornerback Denzel Burke, quarterback Kyle McCord, wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., and linebacker Cody Simon. All four of the players seemed calm and confident with the game coming up on Saturday, but no one was out-of-hand cocky. Burke did make a matter-of-fact declaration that felt very similar to Jim Tressel's statement in front of an OSU basketball crowd on the day that he was named the Buckeyes' head coach. On Land-Grant Holy Land In Conversation, we talk to people in and around Ohio State athletics, and the sporting world at large, to bring you a different insight and perspective to the teams, athletes, and university that you love. On this episode of "Land-Grant In Conversation," Matt Tamanini talks to The Athletic beat writer covering the Michigan Wolverines, Autin Meek. They discuss what impact Jim Harbaugh's absence will have on quarterback J.J. McCarthy, what the injury status is for players who have been banged up in recent weeks, what has led to the decline in production from all-purpose back Donovan Edwards, and more. Then, they get into the sign-stealing scandal and subsequent fallout. Austin details how the investigation and suspension of Harbaugh have impacted both the fans and the team and what the latter will need to do to focus on the game, rather than the emotions of the situation. On Land-Grant Holy Land In Conversation, we talk to people in and around Ohio State athletics, and the sporting world at large, to bring you a different insight and perspective to the teams, athletes, and university that you love. On this episode of "Land-Grant In Conversation," Matt Tamanini talks to The Athletic Senior Writer Nick Baumgardner. Having been the beat writer for the Michigan football team for years before transitioning into covering the NFL Draft, Nick has a unique vantage point to break down everything going on in the 2023 edition of The Game. First, they get into some talent breakdowns at key positions for both squads, then they discuss how the absence of Jim Harbaugh from the sideline will impact the home team, and then Nick reveals that he has a certain Ohio State wide receiver at the top of his Heisman ballot, even if he isn't supposed to be saying that publicly at this point. Throughout the year, the Land-Grant Podcast Network will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. On today's episode of "Land-Grant Uncut," we are bringing you unedited audio from the Tuesday, Nov. 21 press conference featuring head football coach Ryan Day and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. Since this is Thanksgiving Week, there will not be any other media availabilities before The Game, aside from Day's radio show responsibilities, but reporters were able to talk to a handful of players on Tuesday. That audio will be in Thursday's episode of "Land-Grant Uncut." Both Day and Knowles attempted to stay as vanilla as they don't want to set off another firestorm of controversy before heading up to Ann Arbor this weekend. However, they did discuss a handful of injuries and how they are progressing, some schematic changes that could come into play on Saturday, and some hindsight quarterback recruiting questions. Welcome to a new episode of Fans First Football Network’s I-80 Football Show. On this show, we travel down I-80 to talk all things Big Ten Football. This is the only Big Ten Podcast that’ll cover all 18 teams. After every week of action, we will catch you up on all the conference’s games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players you should be paying attention to for the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. After a break from the podcast, the guys catch up on a lot of the news they missed. We discuss fired coaches, USC struggles, Northwestern’s turnaround, and the Michigan cheating scandal. While many in college football are too harsh on Caleb Williams, Jordan is happy that Lincoln Riley is struggling. Riley is self-absorbed and refuses to change, he now has to deal with the fact that he could not win the PAC-12 with Caleb Williams and wasted his most talented quarterbacks last season losing five games before Williams heads to the NFL. It. Is. Time. Rivalry week, A.K.A. hate week is here. In the Big Ten, there are a bunch of rivalry games with meaning. Nebraska, Illinois, and Minnesota need wins against their rivals to reach bowl eligibility and end the season on a positive note. Rutgers, already bowl-eligible, is trying to end Maryland’s two-game win streak and finish the season on top of their East Coast counterpart. The biggest game of all is of course ‘The Game’. Ohio State vs. Michigan is the best rivalry in all of sports and this time it’s for all the marbles. Two undefeated teams, the winner gets a chance to bully Iowa en route to a playoff berth while the loser has to watch the other compete for a national championship. This iteration of the game has massive stakes on its own but when you include the Michigan cheating scandal and Jim Harbaugh's three-game suspension it has even bigger implications. Dante and Jordan both believe Ohio State gets the win, Dante has it 30-27 while Jordan has it 30-20. Put 60 minutes on the clock, the latest edition of ‘The Game’ is around almost here. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sign up with MyBookie using our link to receive your welcome bonus: https://mybookie.website/Grant23 Follow the show on YouTube: @JordanW330 Follow the podcast on Instagram: @I80FootballShow Connect with us on Twitter: Jordan: @JordanW330 and Dante: @DanteM10216 Learn more about your ad choices. We’re talking about Rivalry Week, baby! The Buckeyes and Wolverines will once again do battle on the gridiron, this time with Big Ten and College Football Playoff implications on the line... Oh, there might also be some reputations and various other things on the line as well. As the Hangout Boys take a look at this year’s OSU vs. TTUN matchup, they see two great CFB teams, both capable of winning it all. So what will - or has the potential to - set them apart come Saturday? How much will coaching play a role? And which players need to step up and/or have a career-defining performance? Throughout the year, Land-Grant Holy Land will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Monday, the Ohio State women's basketball team played its second neutral site game of the season. This time, at the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship, against the East Carolina Pirates. In a game where the Pirates came within one point of the Buckeyes in the second quarter, Ohio State adjusted and turned up the intensity in the second half to pull away with a comfortable 79-55 win. After the game, head coach Kevin McGuff and forwards Taylor Thierry and Rebeka Mikulášiková spoke with the media. Coach McGuff discussed a contentious third quarter moment after Thierry went to the ground on an intentional foul on ECU. Also, improved rebounding and playing against a similar style of full court press as their own. Thierry and Mikulášiková talked about staying cool in a physical game and Mikulášiková talked about her improved shooting as the game went on, especially from deep. Finally, Thierry talks about the moment when teammate Celeste Taylor stepped in to defend her following a hard fall to the ground and how it represents the Buckeyes' team chemistry. Ohio State handled its “trap” game with no real difficulty, dispatching the Minnesota Golden Gophers 37-3 at the Horseshoe on Saturday. The Buckeyes easily marched down the field for the first score and then the offense struggled for much of the rest of the first half. Meanwhile, the defense was stifling and kept the Gophers from getting anything going all game long. We looked back at Saturday’s win over Minnesota and broke down how the game unfolded. We also looked back at our score predictions and our picks to click to see how our forecasting skills worked out for us against the Golden Gophers. We took our weekly walk through the other Big Ten scores to see how the rest of the conference made out. There honestly weren’t a ton of surprises around the league on Saturday, although Michigan struggled a bit after jumping on top early. If not for a lot of self-inflicted wounds, Maryland might have stunned the Wolverines. As it turned out, the Terps only lost by a touchdown. After checking the scoreboard, we dove into the happenings at Michigan, including all that has transpired since our last show. Jim Harbaugh did not have his day in court, a defensive coach deleted his Twitter account, another one was fired, and the University of Michigan doesn’t seem interested in wording its statements in a way that aligns with those coming out of the Big Ten offices. It’s a strange situation that will likely only get weirder as more is uncovered. Finally, we looked ahead to The Game. It’s what we’ve all been waiting for all season and both teams enter the rivalry matchup without a loss. Both seem vulnerable at times and unbeatable at others. We also made our picks to click and our score predictions. We’ll be here with you every week from now until the end of the 2023 Ohio State football season (and then monthly). Throughout the year, Land-Grant Podcast Network will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Following Ohio State’s 73-56 win over the Western Michigan Broncos Sunday afternoon, Jamison Battle, Dale Bonner, and Chris Holtmann spoke to the media about the contest, which was technically the opening round of the Emerald Coast Classic. Battle and Bonner spent some time talking about Zed Key when asked about his recovery from shoulder surgery and his quality of play so soon after getting back on the court. Battle said that Key is a “gamer” and that his years of experience in the Big Ten show how tough he is. Both he and Bonner said that they loved Key’s three-pointer he knocked down in the first half. Holtmann gave credit to Western Michigan, and said, “Once they’re healthier they’re going to have a really good year.” He discussed the difference in pace when you’re playing against a zone defense vs typical man-to-man, and also talked about Bruce Thornton’s progression into a more natural and effective point guard. The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they discuss Ohio State football, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of “Hangout in the Holy Land,” Josh and Chuck begin to shift their focus toward *ichigan, but not before recapping Ohio State football’s thumping of Minnesota, as well as the men’s basketball team and their awkward start to this ‘23-24 season. It’s (Western) *ichigan week! The OSU men’s basketball team takes on WMU today, and it’s all the Hangout boys can talk about... But really, what’s going on with Chris Holtmann’s squad? Are fans in for a repeat of last season? After starting on the hardwood, the hosts then transition to the gridiron. The Buckeyes dominated another B1G West team, and did well to not look ahead to the Wolverines. While QB Kyle McCord could have been a tad sharper, Senior Day in The Shoe was otherwise a success across the board. And now it’s time to gear up for TTUN. Nothing else matters. Let’s go!!! Throughout the year, Land-Grant Podcast Network will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Following a 76-52 win over Merrimack, we spoke to Roddy Gayle, Evan Mahaffey, and head coach Chris Holtmann about what worked and what did not. Gayle was asked about the multiple dunks he threw down, but also made a point to say that Holtmann and Jake Diebler “put him in positions where he was allowed to fail,” which has been crucially important in his development. Mahaffey talked about how Ohio State wanted to attack Merrimack’s zone, which included his ability to sit in the middle and open up the floor more for others. Holtmann spoke afterwards, and was exceedingly complimentary of Gayle, Devin Royal, and Felix Okpara, who started the game but only played 12 minutes. Holtmann said Merrimack’s big man made it hard on Okpara, and that Zed Key was “just the better option tonight.” Sign up with MyBookie using our link to receive your welcome bonus: https://mybookie.website/Grant23 Connect with Connor: Twitter: @lemons_connor Theme music provided by www.bensound.com Learn more about your ad choices. The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they discuss Ohio State football, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of “Hangout in the Holy Land,” the dynamic duo is back together, and they’ve got some bones to pick. Josh and Chuck call out University of Michigan football coaches - as well as the university’s ‘leadership’ - for their absurd behavior. Is U of M’s response to Big Ten punishment legit? Or some form of obnoxious trolling? Next, after a quick recap of Ryan Day’s Tuesday press conference, the Hangout boys jump into a preview of Ohio State-Minnesota (on the gridiron). The Buckeyes host their final home game of the 2023-24 season Saturday, with a trip to Ann Arbor looming in the not-so-distant future. So for OSU, this weekend’s gameplan should focus on starting fast, scoring often, and hopefully sitting stars late. Please make sure to like, rate, review, and subscribe to the podcast! “Bucketheads” is LGHL’s men’s basketball podcast, hosted by Connor Lemons and Justin Golba. Every episode, they give you the latest scoop on the Ohio State Buckeyes and everything else happening in the college hoops world. On the newest episode of Bucketheads, Connor and Justin recap the Texas A&M loss. As always for home games, Connor was boots on the ground and covering the game while Justin watched it, like everyone else, from his couch. Was the loss to Texas A&M concerning? Or one loss against a good team? What were the main takeaways from the Buckeye's loss, and how can they improve on that moving into the Emerald Coast Classic? Also, we talk about the Gavitt Games, what is going on with the Big Ten, and Justin's rant about Kent State-James Madison. For once, it was nice to not have to sit through a frustrating first half waiting for Ohio State to put some drives together and take control of the game. The Buckeyes dominated the Michigan State Spartans from start to finish and fans got to see quite a few backups in the second half, especially in the fourth quarter. We break down Ohio State’s easy night in those cool, gray, alternate uniforms. We also looked back at our score predictions and our picks to click to see how we fared at prognosticating the game. After our Sparty rewind, we took our usual walk through the other Big Ten results, including that big game over in Happy Valley. If you like defense or hate offense (or both), that was the game for you. Of course, we had to also dive into the Michigan sign-stealing scandal and the Big Ten’s response late last week. We also had to point out the ludicrous reaction by the Wolverines after the game as they painted themselves as the victims when that’s not really how breaking the rules works. Finally, we looked ahead to Saturday afternoon’s “Senior Day” game against the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Gophers just got handled by Purdue but there’s some talent on that Minnesota team. However, Ohio State just has to show up and handle its business and things should be fine on Saturday. We’ll be here with you every week from now until the end of the 2023 Ohio State football season (and then monthly). We’d love to hear from you, so please reach out with your feedback and questions below in the comments section or send us an email. The latest episode of Land-Grant Holy Land’s flagship podcast is here! Join LGHL’s Josh Dooley and Chuck Holmes as they discuss Ohio Statefootball, recruiting, and much, much more! Come for the hot takes, stay for the warm ones. On this episode of “Hangout in the Holy Land,” Chuck finally gets his wish to run point and do (most of) a pod without Josh! He recaps a Buckeye blowout on the gridiron, a tough defeat on the hardwood, and all the other Ohio State-related news you can handle. But first, both of the Hangout boys weigh in briefly on the ongoing and seemingly never-ending Michigan saga. Did new Big Ten commish Tony Petitti handle this situation correctly? Did the punishment fit the crime? And what now? Next up is OSU men’s basketball... And finally, Chuck gets to the main course: A Buckeye football recap. After two straight good-not-great performances on the road, Ryan Day’s squad was back in The Shoe on Saturday night and put a four-quarter thumping on the Michigan State Spartans. Ohio State coasted to a 38 - 3 victory, despite several injured Buckeyes watching from the sideline. Saturday night’s get-right game could not have come at a better time, as the Scarlet and Gray look to drown out the noise and prepare for a late-season charge. Please make sure to like, rate, review, and subscribe to the podcast! And as always, Go Bucks! On LGHL Instant Recap Pods, Land-Grant Holy Land writers break down Ohio State games just minutes after the action ends. They bring you the biggest stats, storylines, and moments of the game before the players make it back to the locker room. The Ohio State Buckeyes used a nearly flawless first half to blowout the Michigan State Spartans 38-3 on Saturday night. In what is unquestionably Kyle McCord's best game as the Buckeyes' starter, he went 24-for-31 for 335 yards and 3 touchdowns. Marvin Harrison Jr. continued to make his Heisman Trophy candidacy case with 149 yards receiving and TDs through the air and another -- his first -- rushing. The OSU defense was a bit banged up without starting safeties Lathan Ransom and Josh Proctor or captain and starting linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, but -- despite giving up a little bit of yardage early on -- held Michigan State to just 182 yards of total offense. The Ohio State special teams continue to be a problem, but we are focusing on good vibes tonight. Throughout the year, Land-Grant Podcast Network will be bringing you uncut audio primarily from Ohio State press conferences, but also from individual interview sessions. Following Texas A&M’s 73-66 win over the Buckeyes in Columbus, both head coaches, as well as select players, spoke to the media about the grindy, gritty non-conference bout. Bruce Thornton and Jamison Battle spoke first. Thornton mentioned Ohio State’s struggles at the free throw line no fewer than five times, saying that if the Buckeyes had hit a few more, they’d have been in “a much better spot.” Battle mentioned that his team fouled a few too many times, which handed the Aggies free points. We then spoke to Tyrece “Boots” Radford and Henry Coleman, who both scored 20+ points in the game. Radford said the game was just “two teams hooping” and going “bucket for bucket,” but that the Aggies were the team able to string a few baskets together at the end of the game and pull out the win. Buzz Williams followed and was able to recite exactly how many rebound opportunities Ohio State had in their exhibition game against Dayton and their win over Oakland. He said he told his team he wanted “50 rebounds” and that rebounding is “woven into everything they do” at Texas A&M. Chris Holtmann closed the press conference. He felt the rebounding issues mostly stemmed from his team’s inability to contain Radford and Wade Taylor, which caused help defense to jump the ball and not have as many people available to rebound.
