Dive into this podcast to learn about the Qwerky Writer Mechanical Keyboard, a keyboard dedicated to those who want the greatest typewriter feeling under their fingertips at all times. Thanks to arrangements done by Qwerkytoys, what's reviewed here is of the latest QwerkyWriter S model. As you can hear, I could not be more than pleased with the design, build, and overall retro feel of this product. As you also hear, there are some some negatives, such as the right-shift key, but these to me have not detracted from using the device at all. While you can pick up another keyboard claiming a typewriter feel, I truly challenge you in these three qualities produced by the breadth of attention put in by the QwerkyWriter team. 4 connections at once. That includes a USB machine, and 3 over Bluetooth. At once, yes, you can have 4 devices at the same time and seamlessly switch among them. This can include a mix of mobile, desktop and gaming devices. Quality of build. These keys now use Cherry Blue switches, and beyond the one minor difference in my podcast, they are fully compatible with any key set you want to change it into. The customization is yours, and you get the superb clicky blue switches with a nice plating that gives it a typewriter clicking sound. I change my keys with the 104-key keycap set by Aukey to prevent the metal chrome on the original set from chipping in a non-portable situation that I'm using this keyboard in, such as my job. Finally, A stand which fits a Braille display. When it comes to both my Refreshabraille 18, and VarioUltra 40, this device will handle them comfortably. The Tablet stand, design to originally accommodate tablets fits Braille displays of many sizes and types. Let us know if yours also can fit in to the keyboard! I can use my displays slightly tilted with the cells towards me to read off any text as I type on the keyboard, increasing productivity. I definitely don't need a combined solution for a premium price, no sir, it's part of my keyboard. Overall, I could not be more than satisfied with the feel of each key, as they are consistent among presses. The entire plate of this QwerkyWriter is metal, and it is noticeable in quality to keyboards I previously tested. I'm confident that this keyboard will last me for years to come, and that it is a worthwhile product for many people, thus I bring this review to you as a journalist and professional.

From: Kevin Barry James, A while back, in one of the regular CBT podcasts, you recommended Google's new $160 wireless ear buds. I recall being surprised at your recommendation as at that time not only had that item not shipped but no reviewers had used it. Now that many reviews are indeed out, and they seem quite negative, I was wondering if you still recommend this item? Also, do you think it is a good idea to recommend something before you or anyone else has had a chance to use it? From: Brennen Kinch Hi I would like to get a Roku for Christmas but I am not sure which one would be the right one to get for Accessibility I listen to a podcast that was done on your site about a year ago that talked about Roku and its accessibility but a year has passed since the podcast was released so I guess what I am wondering is how has accessibility improved over the last year and what in your opinion would be the best model to get. From: Cruz Ramos Hello, my name is Cruz Ramos I have an account with you all guys but I forgot my username and password. I was also wondering if you except podcast from the public? I like doing podcasting. From: Erin Jepsen Do you know of a games-based SCREENREADER accessible software that teaches concepts like logic and programming skills? We have a windows PC, a Chromebook, a BrailleNote or an iPad with VoiceOver available to use. It needs to be basic and usable by a fourth grader. Please hit us with options!!! From: Scott Spaulding I need to replace my microphone for my podcast that I do from my iPhone. I use Spreaker, if that matters. Do you have any recommendations of units that aren't too expensive. I had an iRig mic cast previously. From: Syed Hussain Hi, This is Syed Hussain from India. I used VR head set recently. Thought I may share the experience here. How should I post here? Should I send it to you and get posted by you? From: Cuauhtli Padilla Arias Hi Cool blind tech! My name is Cuau, co-founder of Sunu. We developed a smart watch that enables the blind and visually impaired to better sense and navigate their surroundings. here you can learn more about it! http://igg.me/at/sunu-band/x/12767022 Thanks in advance for any support in our mission to empower to provide more independence to people with visual impairments. our Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/sunu.io From: Dave Ransley I enjoyed your last podcast, informative and professional. CBT takes a look at the Google Home Mini with updated touch controls. Shortly after launching the Mini, Google disabled all touch controls due to an issue with the touch control on the top of the device constantly being triggered even when not touched. Google recently added some touch controls back to it’s Mini speaker. Here's what you can do: To play, pause, stop music playback or end a phone call, long-press on either side of the Home Mini. Stop a timer or alarm with a tap on either side of the device. Tap the left side to decrease volume. Tap the right side to increase volume. Touch control on the top of the Home Mini is still missing. You will need to summon Google Assistant using your voice, instead of a long-press on the top of Home Mini as was originally intended. If the long-press actions aren't working for you quite yet, be patient. An update is rolling out to all Google Home Mini devices to add the new touch controls.
CBT gives you our first impressions of the Google Pixel 2 XL. Find out how this maybe the best of 2017. They have the same camera, processor, and speaker specs. They have 12.2-megapixel rear cameras that have an autofocus with laser and dual-pixel phase detection, and optical and electronic image stabilization. In the front, the Pixels have a fixed-focus 8-megapixel camera. Both phones use USB-C, but no wireless charging. There is no headphone jack and it runs on Bluetooth 5.0. The Pixel 2 XL has a bigger battery and a 6-inch screen with a 2880 x 1440 smart OLED resolution; the Pixel 2 has a 5-inch screen and 1920 x 1080 OLED resolution. This year’s XL is slightly bigger than last year’s 5.5-inch screen. The Pixel 2 is also slightly lighter and slimmer than the XL. The Pixel 2 comes in “kind of blue,” “just black,” and “clearly white. The regular price for the Pixel 2 64GB is $649, while the Pixel 2 XL 64GB costs $849. The 128GB variant costs $749 and 949. Why didn’t I just travel the world, ride my motorcycle, tinker with my robots, hang out at my bakery with friends and family. And to be honest I still do ask myself that sometimes…but not too often. So why did I create Essential? Well, my hardware engineers wanted me to talk about how we are bringing real passion and craftsmanship back into this category. My software engineers wanted me to talk about our vision for making all devices, even those we don't make ourselves, play well together. My partners wanted me to talk about how we are using methods that could change how successful technology companies are built forever. But the real reason is because of what happened during a night out with an old friend of mine... From: Kelley Armstrong Hi everyone, I just want to say thank you for putting all of this educational information out there! I have been a long time listener for years! This is my weigh in on the iPhone ten unboxing! You know I opted not to ever set up emergency sos because of the fear of accidentally activating the darn thing! I am one who has severe anxiety and sudden loud noises scare me! My family had an alarm system and I had a medical alert pendant! So did my mom and dad and my grandmother! I triggered mine accidentally and it scared the bejesus out of me! Sirens going off and lights flashing and the loud voice of emergency services! Never mind that the alarm system contracts are the hardest things to get out of and I don’t recommend it! I am really surprised that apple made this feature so easily accessible! The 911 system has been overloaded with calls that were accidentally made! However I’m glad to know what it sounds like! There should be a prompt before a call is sent out! Hit okay or cancel! Something apple should have took more time to think it through! I think the watch would be better suited for a feature like this! From: Dr. Lester I am looking for a smartphone to replace my iPhone 7, in your pro opinion do you think that the android screen reader “talkback” is better then Voice Over for the iPhone at this time? Before I lost my vision I was user of android and at that time talkback was a pain to use…. I would be grateful for any help you could be to me in this. From: Henk-Jeroen van Groningen schinkel Thank you for your wonderful Podcasts. Although the products you’re presenting aren’t all available in The Netherlands, I love to hear about the tech possibilities for blind folks. And it was your podcast that made me buy the Sunu band. This will arrive soon. And I am the First to experiment in this country. Go on with your wonderful shows. And perhaps, once I can join your podcast. But First I have to buy some good microphone and other stuff. ;-) Kind regards, Bilthoven The Netherlands

From: Charlie Smith I started listening to the podcast about 2 years ago, and have been hooked ever since. This podcast is most definitely in the top 5 best podcasts on my iPhone. Anyway, just writing to encourage you all, to keep up that great work, have as much fun as possible, and above all, keep up that laughter. From: Pat Hornell I just heard your latest Fan Mail podcast, and I took note of the comment someone made about not having a separate podcast for the Cool Picks. Personally, I like to have these separate podcasts the way they are right now. Sometimes I like to listen to the VIP, including the Cool Picks. However, there may be a Cool Pick that sparks my interest, and so I may come along later and just want to hear the Cool Picks without listening to the entire VIP podcast. So I hope you continue to do exactly what you are doing on this one. If anybody else doesn’t like the redundancy of the separate Cool Picks podcast, they can always delete that one. On another note, I just recently purchased a Google Home, and I have found it very advantageous to go to your web site and review all the podcasts and even the articles about the Google Home. They have been a great help for me to set up my Google Home device and also my Chromecast Audio devices. My next job will be to set up the Chromecast Ultra for my flat screen TV – not exactly 4K, but I am sure that will happen soon, as my wife, who is fully sighted, will surely want one of those soon. One point of caution I would like to mention, though, and it’s a minor one, but when you are doing the unboxing podcasts, make sure to keep tabs on your microphone. Most of the time, it’s pretty good, but there was one recent unboxing – I think it was for the Series 3 Apple watch, where Mr. Nelson got a little far away from his microphone, and so his voice became a little faint at times. Thanks for your fine podcasts. Keep up the good work. Your friend from the great White North, eh. From: Rebecca Skipper Are there accessible games designed for the Apple TV? From: Scott Voice message

A few months ago, I reviewed a label maker by Logan Tech which really raised the bar on how labels are created in terms of both ease of creation and the resulting crispness. While perhaps out of the price range for some, I still considered it a worthwhile investment which would enrich your life, well, for a lifetime of Braille. That's both important and powerful to me. But what if you don't yet know Braille? Label makers become useless for this target of the population, unless, of course, you can also teach them how to fish. (Or in our case, read Braille.) You have the option of buying both the Braille Coach and label maker as a combo, or Buy the coach learning system alone. It is true that the Braille Coach is significantly greater of an investment than the label maker, however it is also one of the best transition-aids to Braille as you get an entire RFID-reading system for pre-recording your own voice tags. For some, having speech as well as the tactile feedback could significantly improve the learning of Braille. Dive into this podcast to find out how the system works and the ways in which it can help perhaps enhance your life.
