About
This ancient Aboriginal wind instrument has a unique sound that is unlike any other musical apparatus. The vibrating tones are almost hypnotic as they rise and fall, weaving intricate patterns of sound. Typically used in cultural ceremonies, the mournful notes underscore age-old stories told through song and movement, holding the audience spellbound. There is very little rhythm, just a low-pitched, pleasing, continuous drone.
