About
Welcome to Episode 37. In this podcast, I explore Black Hero Archetypes, the Preacher and the Athlete. Rev. Warnock is the incumbent Senator for the state of Georgia. He literally sits in the shadow of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., while serving as the pastor of the Ebeenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia (Dr. King's family church). Herschel Junior Walker is the Republican Candidate seeking to replace Rev. Warnock in the Senate. Walker was unstoppable as a Heismann winning running back at the University of Goergia. Walker's on the field performance made him a national hero during a time when ESPN did not exist. These are the two archetypes that the world expects Black leaders to embrace, being a preacher or unbeatable athlete. I have known individuals who have declared themselves to be ministers to better position themselves for political careers. Why question is "WHY?"
