The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources presented Box Elder County with ,461 for the 58,000 acres of land it owns in the county that that are not taxable otherwise. The money is a payment in lieu of taxes, or PILT, a practice that both the state and federal governments undertake in an effort to keep counties with a high percentage of public land solvent.
