RUGBY: Benetton vs Connacht (URC preview with Connacht assistant backs coach Mark Sexton and Galway Bay FM's William Davies)

Connacht will target redeeming themselves following last week's disappointing defeat in Italy on Saturday (30th March 2024) when they battle Benetton in the BKT United Rugby Championship. A meeting of two teams just on the edge of the play-off zone, with tenth taking on ninth, so there’s much at stake. Benetton have Azzurri stars Michele Lamaro, Juan Ignacio Brex and Tommaso Menoncello returning after playing key roles in Italy’s best-ever Six Nations campaign. Connacht have made seven changes for this contest. With the full preview, Galway Bay FM's William Davies is joined by Connacht assistant backs coach Mark Sexton. == Kick-off in Treviso on Saturday is 1pm.  We'll have online coverage on our website galwaybayfm.ie from 12.45pm, and will be broadcasting LIVE on Galway Bay FM after the 1pm news. BASKETBALL: Maree captain Eoin Rockall with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly ahead of their Men's Super League semi-final against Griffith College Eanna

Maree are two games away from ending the season with silverware as they prepare for the InsureMyVan.ie Men's Super League semi-final on Saturday (30th March 2024) against Griffith College Eanna. The Galway side were 104-84 victors over EJ Sligo All-Stars in last week's quarter-final and did beat Eanna to win the 2023 Pat Duffy National Cup Final. While Charlie Crowley's side have enjoyed a near perfect home record this term, Eanna have been prominent on the road with a 7-1 winning record.  And they did beat Maree 79-62 three weeks ago in the league. Leading up to the game, Maree captain Eoin Rockall has been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly. == Tip-off at Calasanctius College, Oranmore on Saturday is 7pm and we'll have full online coverage on our website galwaybayfm.ie.

RUGBY: Energia All-Ireland League Preview with Galway Bay FM's William Davies

It's an important weekend in the Energia All-Ireland League with Corinthians and Galwegians both in contention in their respective divisions entering the penultimate round. Corinthians host Division 2B leader Instonians in Corinthian Park.  Victory for the Galway side, and a loss for Wanderers against Rainey, would get Corinthians a home league semi-final. The same is the case for Galwegians in Division 2C as they travel to Midleton.  If they win, and leaders Clogher Valley go down to Tullamore, it would go down to the very last game of the season seven days later. For a full preview, here's Galway Bay FM's William Davies. == Kick-off for both games on Saturday (30th March) is 2.30pm.

CAMOGIE: Galway senior manager Cathal Murray with Galway Bay FM's Tommy Devane ahead of their National League encounter with Cork

League champions Galway go up against All-Ireland champions Cork on Saturday (30th March) in the final round of group games in the Very National Camogie League Division 1A. Potentially, only one spot in this year's league decider in Croke Park is at stake with Tipperary also level on nine points with both teams. The Tribeswomen did beat the Rebelettes in last year's decider, but Cork had revenge with a 0-15 to 2-6 success against Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final. Leading up to the game, Galway senior manager Cathal Murray has been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Tommy Devane. == Throw-in at Duggan Park, Ballinasloe on Saturday is 2pm and we'll have full online coverage on our website galwaybayfm.ie. The Galway team to play Cork will be announced on 'Over The Line' with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly this Friday around 8.35pm.

NFL: Castlegar's Darragh Leader chats to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly about his experiences as part of the NFL International Player Pathway Program

After a month of combines, pro days, showcasing their skills for NFL coaches and scouts, Ireland's 'fantastic four' must sit and wait to see if their American football dreams are going to be fulfilled next season. GAA players Rory Beggan (Monaghan), Mark Jackson (Wicklow) and Charlie Smyth (Down) were among 16 overall to go to Indianapolis and Florida while Galway were also represented by former Connacht rugby player Darragh Leader. The Castlegar man has been living Stateside after finishing up with Connacht in 2020.  And while helping out his brother Tadhg with the Leader Kicking programme that's opening more doors for Irish people to become part of America's biggest sport, he decided now was the time to see if he could do it. Injuries curtailed his kicking abilities during the month but his bench pressing accomplishments (doing 23 reps lifting 102.5kg) has garnered attention and kept him in the mix. Darragh has been chatting with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly. == Darragh and Tadhg Leader will be back in Ireland next month as 'Leader Kicking' will holding a number of events.  if you have an interest in trying to get into the dynamic world of American football as a kicker or punter, check out leaderkicking.com.  Click HERE https://leaderkicking.com/
