OUR LONE STAR STORY OF THE DAY: A MUST LISTEN SHOW! For well over a decade, I have covered the charges lodged against Ken Paxton over the so-called “securities fraud,” which was never fraud by the way. All that time, the evidence has shown it all to be a political revenge issue and I have said that the reason it didn’t come to trial was because it was being used by Paxton’s enemies as a political weapon. I said that the case would fall apart on appeal even if a guilty verdict was obtained before a Democrat jury. It didn’t even come to that – as soon as a judge finally set it for trial, the case, which was nothing to begin with, fell apart and the prosecutors dropped all charges today. OUR LONE STAR STORY OF THE DAY: Full election review. After halfway efforts in the past, Gov. Greg Abbott finally wen all-in as a leader and dealt a big blow to the Texas House RINO aristocracy. Eight, likely nine, outright wins over anti-school choice incumbents and four others, including the Drinker of the House Dade Phelan, now in runoffs to try and hold their seats! Primary runoff election date is 28 May 2024. Phelan was number two in votes in the three-way race for his House seat and the runoff will likely be classic bare-knuckled Texas politics of a very entertaining nature. Even if Phelan wins reelection, it is unlikely he will survive to remain as speaker. It simply doesn’t serve members’ interests to have their body’s leader locked in a war with the Governor and Lieutenant Governor all session – and it is all of Phelan’s making by the way. One great thing is that in the five person race for Railroad Commissioner, incumbent Christi Craddick appears to have won it outright which means no statewide GOP runoff election will be required – great news for all county chairmen! There will be big runoffs for a state senate seat (SD30), for Congressional seats, including incumbent Tony Gonzalez in TX23, and runoffs for several key Texas House seats.
