The Archives at NCBS is a public collecting space for the history of contemporary biology in India. Venkat also serves on the institutional review boards for the archives at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, the Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata, and the National Institute of Design (NID). He is a member of the Encoded Archival Descriptions – Technical Subcommittee (Society of American Archivists) and on the board of the Commission on Bibliography and Documentation of the International Union of the History and Philosophy of Science (IUHPST). Prior to this, he was a research engineer at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Stanford University.
