Good Friday Service - Nick Hansen - March 29th, 2024 - Easter Means Emptied What is Good Friday all about? The day to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. What is Easter Sunday all about? The day to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Is the specific date or name of the holiday very important? Not particularly, we actually spend time “in remembrance” of Jesus every week. But it’s nice to have some extra time off and special gatherings! Jesus Sacrifice on the Cross Rom 5:6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. Rom 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. Num 15:1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, Num 15:2 "Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, `When you enter the land where you are to live, which I am giving you, Num 15:3 then make an offering by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering or a sacrifice to fulfill a special vow, or as a freewill offering or in your appointed times, to make a soothing aroma to the LORD, from the herd or from the flock. Num 15:4 `The one who presents his offering shall present to the LORD a grain offering of one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour mixed with one-fourth of a hin of oil, Num 15:5 and you shall prepare wine for the drink offering, one-fourth of a hin, with the burnt offering or for the sacrifice, for each lamb. Psa 22:1 For the choir director; upon Aijeleth Hashshahar. A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why have You forsaken me? Far from my deliverance are the words of my groaning. Psa 22:2 O my God, I cry by day, but You do not answer; And by night, but I have no rest. Psa 22:6 But I am a worm and not a man, A reproach of men and despised by the people. Psa 22:14 I am poured out like water, And all my bones are out of joint; My heart is like wax; It is melted within me. Isa 53:3 He was despised and forsaken of men, A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; And like one from whom men hide their face He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. Isa 53:11 As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities. Isa 53:12 Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors. Luk 22:19 And when He had taken some bread and given thanks, He broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me." Luk 22:20 And in the same way He took the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood.

HE must increase, but I must decrease (John 3:30) - Lordwin Jeyakumar - March 10th 2024 HE must increase, but I must decrease John 3:30 John 1: 19-27 & John 3: 22-36 Have you come across the term "G.O.A.T" on social media platforms? According to Jesus Christ, who is the greatest man ever lived? Who is the GOAT? Matthew 11:11 Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. What was the source of John the Baptist Greatness? Why he must increase and I must decrease? John 1: 19-26 Now this is the testimony of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, “Who are you?” He confessed, and did not deny, but confessed, “I am not the Christ.” And they asked him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” He said, “I am not.” “Are you the Prophet?” And he answered, “No.” Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” He said: “I am ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Make straight the way of the Lord,” ’ as the prophet Isaiah said.” Now those who were sent were from the Pharisees. And they asked him, saying, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?” John answered them, saying, “I baptize with water, but there stands One among you whom you do not know. It is He who, coming after me, [i]is preferred before me, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose.” John 3:22-36 He who has the bride is the bridegroom; but the friend of the bridegroom, who stands and hears him, rejoices greatly because of the bridegroom’s voice. Therefore, this joy of mine is fulfilled. Why must he increase, and I must decrease? John 3: 31-36 He who comes from above is above all; he who is of the earth is earthly and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all. And what He has seen and heard, that He testifies; and no one receives His testimony. He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true. For He whom God has sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure. The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand. He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”

Jesus Christ – Our Perfect Sacrifice - Tolu Ogunrinde - February 25, 2024 Isaiah 6v1-5 It was in the year King Uzziah died that I saw the Lord. He was sitting on a lofty throne, and the train of his robe filled the Temple. 2 Attending him were mighty seraphim, each having six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew. 3 They were calling out to each other, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Heaven’s Armies! The whole earth is filled with his glory!”4 Their voices shook the Temple to its foundations, and the entire building was filled with smoke. 5 Then I said, “It’s all over! I am doomed, for I am a sinful man. I have filthy lips, and I live among a people with filthy lips. Yet I have seen the King, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.” 6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a burning coal he had taken from the altar with a pair of tongs. 7 He touched my lips with it and said, “See, this coal has touched your lips. Now your guilt is removed, and your sins are forgiven.” Leviticus 10 v 1-3: Leviticus 16 v 1-2: Preparation and forgiveness of the Priest (v 1-6, 11-14) Forgiving the Congregation (v 7-10, 15-19) Sending away Congregational sin through a scapegoat (v 7-10, 20-22) Post-Ceremonial purification of the priest (v 23-28) Meeting a continuing need of atonement for their sin (v 29-34) This ceremonial must always take place on the seventh month, on the tenth day of the month …..v 29. This is a permanent law for you, to purify the people of Israel from their sins, making them right with the Lord once each year.” v 34 Because sin is repeated in the society, the ritual of forgiveness becomes an endless statute. The Book of Hebrews also confirmed this to us.. Hebrews 10v1-4 Romans 3v5-8 The Holiness of God and the Sinful nature of man Sin: 1John3v4 - Everyone who sins is breaking God’s law, for all sin is contrary to the law of God. “Any lack of conformity to the character of God whether in act or state.” Sin & Blood - Leviticus 17v11 Jesus Christ became - the sin (1cor. 5v21), the lamb (John 1v29), and the Priest (Hebrew 5). All these emphasizes the extent of God's love and the lengths to which He went to reconcile humanity to Himself! All glory belongs to God for His unwavering and incomparable love for us, as demonstrated through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. So, what makes Jesus Christ our perfect sacrifice? Hebrew 7v23-25; 9v11-14 Hebrew 10v 8-12, 19-22 What does Gentiles mean? – A Gentile is a modern English term that is used to translate “goy”(Hebrew word for nation) i.e. a non-Jewish person or nation. Ephesians 2v11-18 In Conclusion: “Redeem” – To buy back, to regain possession, to repurchase If you want to know how valuable a product is, check how much is paid for it. Heb 7v12 With his own blood—not the blood of goats and calves—he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. 1Cor.15 v 56-57 For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died to prove how valuable we are to GOD and his resurrection was the evidence that SIN was destroyed!
Unyime Akpan - February 18, 2024 - Luke 7: A “Chapter” in Jesus’ Life (5) John 3:6-7 (NLT) 6 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ Jesus to Nicodemus Must of a Sinner Everybody is born a sinner Romans 3:23 A sinner must believe in Jesus Christ to have his/her sins forgiven and to have eternal life John 3:13-15 13 No one has ever gone to heaven and returned. But the Son of Man has come down from heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. Jesus to Nicodemus Must of the Saviour (Jesus Christ) Jesus must die on the cross (lifted up) This happened about 2,000 years ago Why? John 3:29-30 29 It is the bridegroom who marries the bride, and the bridegroom’s friend is simply glad to stand with him and hear his vows. Therefore, I am filled with joy at his success. 30 He must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less. John the Baptist to his disciples(followers) Must of a Saint (Believer) Jesus must become greater, a believer must become less Jesus must take first place in a believer's life Must of a Sinner A Sinner Must Believe in Jesus Christ to: Have His or Her Sins Forgiven Have Eternal Life Must of the Saviour Jesus Must Die on the Cross for Our Sins Must of a Saint (Believer) A Believer Must Let Jesus Take First Place (Be Number One) What made John the Baptist great? He Preached and Lived the “Must” of a Saint John 3:22-36 Jesus in John’s territory –Galilee to Judean countryside John’s Disciples Complained John’s Response Everything a person has is a gift from God -life, opportunities, talents, etc. I am not the Messiah I am filled with joy at Jesus’ success Jesus must become greater, I must become less Jesus Christ is Greater than all The Greatness of Jesus Christ Colossians 1 15 -19 -22 Ephesians 1 21 -23 A Sinner Must be Born Again Believe in Jesus Christ to have Your Sins Forgiven and Have Eternal Life A Saint (Believer) Must Make Jesus Greater How? Obedience to God’s Word (The Bible) John 13 12 -17 Philippians 3 3 -8 Must of a Sinner A Sinner Must Believe in Jesus Christ Must of a Saint (Believer) A Believer Must Let Jesus Take First Place Obedience to Gods Word, the Bible, is the Key John the Baptist is a Great Example to Us
Jesus Christ is Lord Every knee will bow and every tongue confess to God Everyone will give account of himself to God Romans 14:11 Isaiah 45:18-23 For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens He is God who formed the earth , I am the LORD and there is none else..V 19 I the LORD speak the truth and declare what is right.V 22 Look unto ME and be saved all the ends of the earth for I am God and there is no other. By myself I have sworn; from my mouth has gone out in righteousness a word that shall not return:to Me every knee shall bow and every tongue shall swear allegiance 12 When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, 13 and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. 14 The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. 15 Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave[d] and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, 16 calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, 17 for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” John 12:48 The one who rejects me and does not receive my words has a judge; the word that I have spoken will judge him on the last day.Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell. Revelation 20:11-14 – The Final Day of Judgment 11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them. 12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. 13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done. 14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire. 15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire. Philippians 2:5-11 Ephesians 3:14-18
Nick Hansen - January 28tt, 2024 - Believe and become (John 1:1-13) Scripture Reading Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God. Joh 1:3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. Joh 1:4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. Joh 1:5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it. Joh 1:6 There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. Joh 1:7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. Joh 1:8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light. Joh 1:9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. Joh 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. Joh 1:11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. Joh 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, Joh 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. Christ’s Deity, Pre-Eminence Reading the Bible in order, John 1 comes as a surprise. Where did this deep, profound, and highly symbolic discourse come from? But in reality it is a review, and synthesis, because John had read the rest of the new testament and studied it in great detail. Col 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Col 1:16 For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities - all things have been created through Him and for Him. Col 1:17 He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. The light, the dark, and accountability Rom 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, Rom 1:19 because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. Rom 1:20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. Believe and Become Joh 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (KJV) Joh 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, (NASB) Joh 1:12 But as many as received Him, He gave to them authority to become the children of God, to those who believe on His name, (MKJV) 1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be. But we know that when He shall be revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

LAW - DEMAND VS GRACE – SUPPLY Exodus 3:1-5 LAW (Demand) “Thou Shall Not” Exodus 20:3-17 1Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2There the angel of the LORD appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.” 4When the LORD saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” 5“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” Luke 15:20-22 GRACE (Supply) “GOD gave HIS only Begotten SON” –John 3:16 20 And he arose and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet Hebrews 12:18-24 The Mountain of Fear (Law) and the Mountain of Joy (Grace) 18You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; 19to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, 20because they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” 21The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.” 22But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, 23You have to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, 24You have to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. The Purpose of the Law The law reveals God’s absolute, immutable permanent expectations. God’s principle behind the law will never change. The Law provides us with social and personal directive –Fallen World The Law reveals our sinfulness, which shows us our needs for Christ. Exo 19:8 -And all the people answered together and said, “All that the LORD hath spoken we will do.” And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD. ONLY Christ fulfilled the Law. Christ fulfilled the Law in every respect, so that when he died on the cross-He remained spotless, sinless Lamb of God, qualified to take away my sins and your sins. LAW/DEMAND VS GRACE/SUPPLY “For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” John 1:17 (NKJV) LAW/DEMAND VS GRACE/SUPPLY Both Law and Grace were instituted by God Truth is on the side of “Grace” Is the “Law” true? Yes, it is….But not “the truth” The Law demands righteousness from sinfully bankrupt man Grace provides/Supplies righteousness as a “Gift” The Law says, take off your shoes, the place you are standing is a Holy Ground Grace says, put on shoes, in his feet, my son has return, he has right to stand in my presence. The law was given by Moses, but grace came by Jesus Christ. Every system of morality/religion is about man trying to reach God with his discipline and good works, but in Christianity, God came down to where we were to lift us up to where He is! GRACE/SUPPLY “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30)
The promise of His Coming 2 peter 3:1-10 Jesus is Coming back!! Next to faith, the return of Christ is the most discussed topic in the Bible 1,845 times mentioned or alluded One out of thirty verses One-fifth of the Bible deals with the end of days and/or the second coming For every one verse about Jesus Christ’s first coming, there are eight about His second coming Twenty-one times Jesus personally referred to it Fifty times we are told to be ready for it John 14:2-3 NKJV "In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. (3) "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. Jesus is Coming back!! A Father and His Sons - Luke 15 v 1-7 So, what triggered this Parable from Jesus Christ? 15 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them! 3 So Jesus told them this story: What is a Parable? – A simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, as told by Jesus in the Gospels. Matthew 5 v 17 – 18, & v 20 The Younger son – Sinners Pro 14 v 12: There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death. Pro 3 v 5-8 : Consequences – v 14 Stranded – He ran out of money. His own ideology about wealth couldn’t sustain him. Disappointments – A great famine swept over the land (I’m sure he wasn’t expecting that) and he began to starve. Degradation – From son to slave – He was hired to feed pigs Desperation - He became so hungry that even the pods he was feeding the pigs looked good to him. But no one gave him anything. 2. What did the younger son do to seek reconciliation? - He repented – v 17-18 Breakdown: He confessed his sin He didn’t blame-shift He took full responsibility He recognized whom he has sinned against i.e., Heaven and his Father He realized what he deserves - I am no longer worthy of being called your son. Please take me on as a hired servant.” Psalm 51 v 17 You do not desire a sacrifice, or I would offer one. You do not want a burnt offering 17 The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God 2 Peter 3 v 9 Galatians 4 v 5-6: Luke 15 v 7 “The graceless service of a self-righteous person is more hard duty than a joyful service in thanksgiving” 29 but he replied, ‘All these years I’ve slaved for you and never once refused to do a single thing you told me to. And in all that time you never gave me even one young goat for a feast with my friends. .......The story of his younger brother revealed what’s going in his heart. The older son believed so much in himself and his ability to keep up with the law. He seems to be angry because he thinks he’s not getting what he deserved for his faithful service. He refused to admit he couldn’t do everything on his own. Hence, the reason why he won’t go in. He refused to enter his Father’s love, the very thing he was trying to earn. Eph 2 v 8-10 : 8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. 9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Our service will never be a substitute for what Jesus Christ did on the cross. Rather, it is expected to be an act of thanksgiving for what Jesus did for us on the cross. Heb 6 v 10: 2.He wanted judgement –30 Yet when this son of yours comes back after squandering your money on prostitutes, you celebrate by killing the fattened calf!’ He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that his father could love unconditionally, love without anything in return. James 1 v 20: 20 Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. “Anger is an emotion that humans feel, and sometimes struggle to process and cope with. What we learn from this letter written by James is that anger rooted in human pride, logic, or evil intentions will not produce righteousness because it is not in line with God’s love, goodness, or justice. God does not want our anger, or any emotions, to get in the way of doing what is good and right in His eyes”. Anger is the feeling that you are not getting your way now. Resentment is the feeling that you did not get your way in the past. These feelings are therefore based on selfishness (the need to get your wants fulfilled). The Father’s reaction to the Older son
