Vibroacoustic therapy (VAT) uses sound to produce vibrations that are applied directly to the body. During the vibroacoustic therapy process, a client lies on the specially designed mat or bed or sits in a chair that is embedded with speakers or transducers which transmit specific computer-generated frequencies into vibrations. Since the human body is over 70% water and since sound travels 5 times more efficiently through water than through air, sound frequency stimulation directly into the body is a highly efficient means for total body stimulation at a deep cellular level. The term Vibroacoustic Therapy (VAT) was coined in the 1980s by the Norwegian therapist and educator, Olav Skille. Research in Europe and throughout North America has shown that audio waves in the range of 30Hz-120Hz transmitted through the vibroacoustic device have a very positive effect on various systems of the body
