With the first ever Women’s Lions tour finally on the horizon, Scaz & Mo (with the help of some Irish, Scottish & Welsh friends) put their heads together to pick a starting IV Lions side. Without picking themselves, they come up with a team that spans the four nations - which makes their hearts hurt at the talent they’ve had to leave out. Christmas has come early for our cat lady, who can’t believe her luck at having two South Africans in the studio with her… the Women Boks captain, Babalwa Latsha & her teammate for club & country, Aseza Hele. It’s been one hell of a tournament… England beat New Zealand, Sarah Hunter cried, Mo Hunt had a stormer & Marlie Packer was crowned Queen of the Universe (more commonly known as World Rugby Player of the Year). England take on New Zealand in Aotearoa this weekend, in a replay of last years’ final. South Africa’s captain Babalwa Latsha, joins Elma & Scaz to debrief on the Springboks & the Women Boks action over the weekend. Elma couldn’t be more excited to have B on the show - they’re firm friends & now that Babalwa has moved from Cape Town to Guildford to play for Quins, they’ve been braaing together over the summer. The girls get into the captains' photo shoot which had us all laughing & look ahead to this weekend’s WXV fixtures and World Cup semi finals.
WXV is here… Mo’s is off New Zealand with the Red Roses, Elma’s in the All Blacks camp en France, and Scaz reveals she’s had a big old operation on her neck which will hopefully get her back on the pitch before too long! If that wasn’t already enough - they look ahead to the exciting new world of WXV, which kicks off this weekend. The Allianz Premier 15s trophy has a new name on it… the Queens brought it home. Gloucester-Hartpury & our Mo are champions of England. While she was busy crowd surfing in the changing rooms, Elma & Scaz hot footed it across the road to the pub garden of Teague’s Bar for a live show for the ages! Katy Daley-McLean joined them to discuss the game & relive the day. And then… just when all hope was lost, a wild Mo Hunt appeared, still in full kit (including her boots) alongside G-H’s Maud Muir & Sam Monaghan, to celebrate & cause some chaos. The woman behind the Red Roses & Queensholm rebrands, Nicol McClelland also joins for a cider, and somehow Chardonnay does, too. Oh, and a post box. Don’t ask, just listen. Our Mo’s made it all the way to the final of the Premier 15s with her Gloucester-Hartpury side, so as a treat, Katy Daley-McLean’s come all the way down from Manchester to join her besties, to review two spectacular semis & look ahead to the big final at Kingsholm. They reminisce about the glory years, talk about Katy’s retirement and her big shiny job at Sale Sharks… And yet the show is stolen by Scaz’s favourite pet when the trio lived together during their days on the 7s circuit; Chardonnay, the fish.
Jodie Ounsley stopped by for a natter with the girls just before her first day as ‘Fury’ in the BBC’s remake of the classic 90s hit television show, Gladiators! Elma, Scaz & Mo can’t contain their excitement to hear all about the Exeter Chiefs and England 7s winger’s shift from rugby girl to showbiz character; something she’s not found to be the easiest fit. As the first ever profoundly deaf gladiator & England rugby international, there’s very little that’s run of the mill about Jodie’s life. They chat about her impressive campaign to raise awareness about what deaf people are capable of and Elma manages to get to the very end of the episode before exploding into a conversation about Jodie’s parents’ hotel for cats. That’s right, a hotel… for cats. If that wasn’t enough unexpected content, Elma also managed to surprise Scaz & Mo with something very special...
Scaz & Mo are in charge this week - without Elma. So they’ve invited their old friend, Vicky Fleetwood over to chat about her very recent retirement. Scaz & Fleeto first started playing together aged 15, when Vicky joined Leicester Forest (East). The pair travelled to uni together and then to Lichfield… so there’s glory days both on and off the pitch to relive, on top of stories from World Cups and Commonwealth Games. It’s safe to say the wheels are firmly off from the start with a studio decked out with pineapples, Scaz & Mo at the helm & Fleeto’s incredible career to celebrate!
It’s round two of Scaz Vs Mo this week, as Loughborough Lightning hosted Gloucester-Hartpury at their new home of Franklins Gardens. Join tour guide Scaz for this Loughborough special, starting with a behind the scenes look at the facilities. From the brand new indoor pitch to the pregame changing room setup, it’s clear the blossoming partnership with Northampton Saints is set to be a good’un. A victorious Mo joins the duo post-game, with a Scottish line up of Rachel Malcolm & Helen Nelson for a pitchside natter. Recovered from a Super Saturday for the ages, a croaky Scaz & Elma relive one of the greatest days in the history of the Red Roses. They take you behind the scenes & talk glitter moustaches, crowd surfs and party hats from a day that was bookended by hilarity at The Cabbage Patch. After a day like that & with a home World Cup on the horizon, the question we’re all asking is how do we keep this momentum alive… & lucky for us the RFU’s COO & CFO - & former Red Roses captain - Sue Day, is on hand to discuss the strategy, numbers & business of women’s rugby in England.
The girls are back in the studio this week, joined by French legend, Lenaig Corson to look ahead to the weekend’s Six Nations Grand Slam decider, between the Red Roses & France in front of a record breaking crowd. Scaz & Elma can't contain their excitement at seeing their Mo back in white again... but it's not all plain sailing, they also fall our about Scaz's poor social media game. A pair of jubilant Scots, Rachel Malcolm & Helen Nelson, also join the pod - fresh from their triumph over Italy. It’s all going on, but it’s no surprise with every Six Nations spot hanging in the balance!
With the Red Roses heading to the Emerald Isle this weekend and the storm clouds gathering over Irish rugby, this week Scaz & Elma are joined by a woman who knows a thing or two about dealing with the rain. Ireland’s most capped women’s player, Lynne Cantwell, gives the girls her perspective on the situation from her unique viewpoint, as Women’s High Performance Manager at the South African Rugby Union - where a parallel story has unfolded; the boys in green and the Springboks have both had great success recently and their female counterparts are struggling to progress. We also hear about Lynne & Scaz’s epic battles in the midfield, and get Scaz’s two pence on Simon Middleton’s kicking comments. Oh, and lest we forget the Marlie Packer post match interview you'd never get on the BBC, thanks to our Mo!
Scotland, Quins & RAF lock, Sarah Bonar joins Scaz & Elma in the studio this week. She’s been kept out of the Six Nations thus far by a broken collar bone (AKA Colly B, who you’ll get to know throughout the episode) - but she still gives us the inside scoop from Scotland’s clashes with England & Wales. Spartans & Scottish rugby feature heavily, not to mention stories from Bonar’s time as a GB rower, her day job in the RAF, her very important business cards and the school assembly bangers that still get her going. And while, we’ll never know what happened in Glasgow, we do know that if Scaz were an animal, she’s be a duck, so at least there’s that. This week Elma’s said ‘toodlepip’ to Scaz & Mo, as she’s crossed the Severn Bridge to the beating heart of Welsh Rugby, somewhere two Red Roses would not be welcomed with open arms - especially not ahead of a Wales England match up in the Six Nations… Head Coach Ioan Cunningham shows Elma around the Elite Training Centre at The Vale Resort, where both Welsh international sides call home. She gets a behind the scenes look at all the state of the art facilities including the cryo chamber, the judo zone, and the team room to see where Wales have built their first couple of victories in the Six Nations. Scrum half, Ffion Lewis, hooker Kelsey Jones & centre Kerin Lake also drop by for a chat in Elma’s makeshift studio on the indoor pitch to spill all the tea about life in camp, the girls’ journey to the big time, and the Welsh passion for singing.
She may not have lifted the World Cup last year, but her words after the final (and everything she’s given the game before and since) have lifted a nation, so join Scaz, Mo & Elma to say ‘toodle-pip’ & ‘cheerio’ to the woman of the moment; Sarah Hunter. She made it down from her ‘Leaving Do’ in Newcastle (AKA England Vs Scotland) to have a chin wag with two of her oldest pals. They re-live all the big, bad, and brilliant moments, from the first cap to the last dance of a captain who’s led the Red Roses for so many years. Mo struggles to find the words to describe Sunter, or much else for that matter, for the entire 80 minutes and Hannah Botterman’s attempt to not be the centre of attention is given a whole lot of air time. The girls also celebrate Wales’ record crowd at Cardiff Arms Park and look ahead to another round of fixtures. Quite frankly, you should be ‘itching at the bits’ to get your ears around this one.

The Cabbage Patch is a home from home for the girls, so this week Scaz & Elma are joined by England and Bristol Bears Lock Abbie Ward in Twickenham's famous rugby pub. They discuss all things pregnancy and motherhood with the Red Rose who will be the first player in the professional age to have a baby and make use of the RFU’s brand new maternity policy. Abbie shares the details of her ambitious plans to be back on the pitch next autumn and the white lies and acting skills she had to employ at Bristol to ensure her teammates didn’t find out she was pregnant too early on. Abbie’s husband, former Quins player, and her coach at Bristol Bears, Dave Ward also pops in for a chin wag, & Scaz & Abbie share some stories from England Camp where they left Mo… who we’re so glad is back in the squad!
It’s on the cards!!!! A two-year feasibility study has confirmed that the first female British and Irish Lions tour is able to go ahead… We don’t know what it looks like yet, but Elma, Scaz, Mo and legendary Irish back row, Claire Molloy take a run up at what they’d like to see. Elma (the smuggler) regales the team with tales of her time embedded with the Springboks during the last Lions tour and Claire gives the girls an insight into her job as an A&E doctor with descriptions of some of the strangest injuries she’s treated in between scoring tries and getting turnovers for Bristol Bears. Mo also talks about the heat Gloucester-Hartpury have had on social media since the announcement of the Prem Final at Kingsholm… And somehow with all this to talk about, a shower puff steals the show…
