About

A Jewish rebellion, called the Maccabean Revolt, c. 167-160 B.C., resulted in an overthrow of the Greek invasion and oppression of the Jewish people as well as Hellenistic compromises of Jewish worship. Jerusalem was recaptured and it was then time to rededicate the Temple in 164 B.C. From this is where the festival of Chanukah (Hanukkah, etc.) comes into being.

Focusing on the foundation of the festival, Rabbi Steve Berkson brings illumination to what it means to ‘dedicate’ ourselves since our bodies are referred to as the Temple of Elohim. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
