The Helium Boys Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and Chris Trevino back behind the microphones to break down and react to an event-filled week for USC athletics. The Trojans' football team opened up its 2024 spring camp before hosting a big unofficial visit weekend featuring a low-country crawfish boil that netted a massive commitment haul Sunday for USC.
The Women of Troy basketball program also had a big weekend hosting the opening rounds of the NCAA tournament at the Galen Center and defeating Texas A&M-Corpus Christi by 32 points in a game that featured JuJu Watkins breaking the all-time USC single-season scoring record and fifth-year senior walk-on guard India Otto stealing the show.
The Helium Boys episode opens with the patented 'Two-Minute Drill' with each Helium Boy being given the freedom to go in any direction. Shotgun uses his time to discuss the women's basketball team and their NCAA tournament opener while Chris spends his time discussing the molten hot recruiting efforts of the football program this weekend.
Chris and Shotgun discuss the significant recruiting haul, what it means and what the Trojans have to do to hold onto the class. They also discuss their thoughts on the Trojans' first week of spring camp, what stood out and what concerns they have going forward. The podcasting duo also look forward to the Women of Troy's NCAA tournament second-round matchup Monday night against Kansas.
