The authors of the new book Surviving God: A New Vision of God through the Eyes of Sexual Abuse Survivors. Dr. Susan M. Shaw and Dr. Grace Ji-Sun Kim are both ordained ministers, theologians, prolific writers – and survivors of sexual abuse themselves.

We’ll address the sense of betrayal and isolation abuse experiences often trigger, and ways survivors can lessen these lasting effects of traumatic experiences. We’ll also discuss ways organized religion can be more sensitive to the needs of survivors – as well as ways to reduce the risks of incidences of abuse within religious structures of power, authority and secrecy.
