In this episode, per listener requests, we do an overview of running the Rubicon trail, including camping information, trail segment overviews and some helpful tips for first timers.  Tune in to hear a fresh new episode of the Northwest Jeepcast.   • Permits
    • No permit is needed to run the Rubicon Trail which is technically an Eldorado County public road.
    • A permit is required to have a campfire in the Eldorado National Forest.  You can get these at https://www.readyforwildfire.org/permits/campfire-permit/
    • No permit is required for campfire at Rubicon Springs as it is private land, but permission to have one will be posted at the host house in Rubicon Springs.
  • Loon Lake Trail Head
    • Camping is available by reservation at the Eldorado National Forest Loon Lake Campground. https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/eldorado/recarea/?recid=71069
    • Parking is available below the dam for tow rigs and there a forest service pit toilets adjacent to this parking area.
    • Staging air down is done on the granite slabs above the parking area
