With Brigham City’s newest fire engine having arrived and about to be put into service, the Brigham City Fire Department is inviting the public to take part in the time-honored ceremony of “pushing” the engine into the firehouse. It’s a tradition that began among American fire services sometime in the 1800s, when new firefighting apparatus consisted of horse-drawn steam pumpers which needed to be “pushed in” to fire stations.
