Teams of Swiss bioengineers have developed NeuralTree, a tiny ultralow power and energy efficient machine learning microprocessor that can be paired with a 256 channel high resolution sensing array. This implantable combo capably recognizes the electrical fingerprints that foreshadow a seizure and issues timely blocking signals to prevent that seizure. The chip promises not only better seizure management, but this AI technology has applications for management of many neurologic disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease.
