Mysteries of Art & Faith, February 16, 2024 Parashat Terumah (Exodus 25:1 - 27:19) Chassidic teachers The tachash (dolphin or unicorn) existed only in the time and place it was needed for the making of a “dwelling for God.” Thus, the tachash expressed the true nature of every creation: that it exists to the sole end of serving and revealing the divine essence implicit within it. Every created entity has a spark of Godliness within it, a pinpoint of divinity that constitutes its “soul”, its spiritual function and design. When we utilize something to serve the Creator, we penetrate its shell of mundanity, revealing and realizing its divine essence. Thus we elevate these “sparks”, reuniting them with their Source.
