Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)

HOUR 1 Shohei Ohtani met the media yesterday but did not take questions. He said he never bet on baseball or any sport and never sent money to a bookie. Nobody is believing his story. We are a cynical group these days. He did not take questions so we didn’t get answers to a handful of important questions. If the money was stolen from him, why has the interpreter not been arrested? Boomer cannot believe that $4.5 million was moved out of Ohtani’s account without his knowledge. Jerry is here for his first update and starts with Donte DiVencenzo breaking the Knicks record for most three pointers in a game. He hit eleven of them. Jontay Porter of the Toronto Raptors is under investigation by the NBA over betting irregularities regarding prop bets. Jerry has audio of Ohtani meeting the media and saying he never bet on baseball and is the victim. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the prevalence of sports gambling and all the celebrities that endorse it (as we do here). Maybe players don’t think it’s a big deal since it’s no longer in the shadows.  HOUR 2 John Mara said he texted Saquon Barkley after he went to the Eagles and said he was sick over it. He is the owner of the team so he could have kept him so that makes no sense. A caller from Thailand said he’s heard Ohtani is just naive like a kid. A caller thinks the Octopus Murder guys need to delve into this Ohtani stuff. A caller wonders why Gio’s impression of Evan doesn’t actually sound like Evan. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Donte DiVencenzo breaking a Knicks record for most threes in a game. He hit eleven of them. We somehow got into talking about songs you hear at weddings. Jerry has audio of Ohtani meeting the media yesterday where he denied ever betting on sports or paying off a bookie. In the final segment of the hour, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed after a container ship crashed into it. In more bad news, another NYPD officer was killed, 2 more people were stabbed on the subway and someone else was pushed on the tracks.  HOUR 3 Woody Johnson said if they don’t trade Zach Wilson, they are going to keep him. Boomer called that a ‘smokescreen’. John Mara said if Daboll and Schoen fell in love with a quarterback, he would be ok with them taking one at number six. Jerry returns for an update and has audio of John Mara talking about the confidence he has in Daniel Jones. Boomer asked Gio if he’s going to meet up with Ryan Clark. Woody Johnson was asked what a successful season looks like and he said, ‘it’s kind of in the eye of the beholder’. Rob Saleh was asked if anything short of the playoffs is a failure and he would not agree with that. In the final segment of the hour, Gio already has the song of the summer picked out. It’s by Post Malone and Morgan Wallen. Gio misses music radio making it seem special when a new song is coming out. Gio said he liked it better when everything was not at our fingertips. Gio likes that they teased that song and didn’t just put it out.  HOUR 4 Jontay Porter of the Toronto Raptors is under investigation by the NBA over betting irregularities regarding prop bets. He’s not even a main player, which is why it drew eyeballs. Based on what happened in those games and how he left those games, he’s looking real guilty right now. Gio thinks this guy is going to end up with a lifetime ban like Pete Rose. Boomer called it ‘stupidity and greed’. Gio thinks this is a huge story that’s not getting enough coverage. This looks like a player fixing prop bets in NBA games. Gio wonders if ESPN isn’t covering it much because of their new betting company and their partnership with the NBA. Jerry returns for an update but first we talked about the new kickoff rule in the NFL. We are actually going to get more kick returns instead of kicks out of the end zone. Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco talked about John Mara’s take on Saquon Barkley leaving and told him to get his ‘peanut head’ out of here. We debated whether Mara does have a peanut head. Mike Tomlin talked about Russell Wilson having the ‘pole position’ in the QB room. Deion Sanders was on a podcast and said he knows where he wants his players to go in the NFL. Boomer thinks Deion is making it too easy for his son. Everything is being paved for him. The Moment of The Day involves online articles using terrible pictures of the people involved in the articles. In the final segment of the show, Gio is watching ‘Physical 100’ on Netflix.

Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)

HOUR 1 Everyone is back in their usual spots with Gio back from vacation. Shohei Ohtani will speak to the media today. We went over everything we know about the situation and where the real questions lie. Jerry is here for his first update of the day and starts with Dave Roberts talking about Ohtani talking to the media today. A guy named ‘Timmy Smokes’ on Twitter has a thread of bets that look very fishy surrounding Ohtani. We have no idea if it’s true but it’s got millions of views on Twitter. Jerry went around the NCAA tournament from the weekend. In the final segment of the hour, Gio has been going through the Timmy Smokes Twitter account to see if there’s any real proof that Ohtani bet on particular games. This guy is a Giants fan so maybe he’s just going after Ohtani because he’s on the Dodgers. Andrew Perloff had a tweet about the elbow to the face of Caitlin Clark. He said it was not intentional and it now has 17 million views. A caller thinks maybe Ohtani is on performance enhancing drugs that he got in Japan that we can’t detect here. Alrighty, hour over. HOUR 2 Gio has returned from his vacation in Turks and Caicos. Upon returning Gio’s dog, Elvis, was throwing up and lethargic. He couldn’t poop so he ended up going to the emergency vet. He must have eaten something he shouldn’t have but there was nothing lodged in his system. His daughter also had an earache. Welcome back to the real world. Gio and his wife were in a glass bottom kayak and the high winds were blowing them out to sea. Jerry returns for an update and starts with Mookie Betts talking about the Ohtani situation. Opening day is Thursday and the weather doesn't look good for the Mets. Friday does look good. Gio said he feels like it’s been more windy than usual. Kim Mulkey has had it with a journalist who’s writing an article about her. She said she would not let ‘one sleazy reporter’ distract them during the tournament. Shannon Sharpe and Ochocinco commented on the situation and thinks maybe her players are not happy with her. Jerry thinks the Knicks will do well in the playoffs but he’s so annoyed at Boomer that he wants them to lose. A caller wanted to know if Gio had squatters in his house when he returned from vacation. In the final segment of the hour, Pat Boyle was sleeping in a sales office because he worked last night and will be producing at 10am. We talked about Caleb Williams’ attitude coming into the NFL. He will have Keenan Allen to throw to in Chicago and Gio thinks he will keep Williams in line if he needs to. Joe Benigno claims to love the Jets offseason moves. Boomer said he can’t wait until the season starts and then Joe will hate the moves.  HOUR 3 Trevor Bauer pitched against the Yankees for Diablos Rojos this weekend. Gio thinks he seems rehabilitated and this could be the perfect time for a team to bring him in. He would pitch for the minimum. Boomer wonders if the Dodgers will treat Ohtani the way they treated Bauer during his situation. Gio doesn’t think it’s apples to apples and doesn’t think the Dodgers will treat him the same way. What would an MLB team be afraid of with Bauer? Are people going to cancel season tickets? Gio wonders how the Deshaun Watson signing affected the Cleveland Browns business. Jerry returns for an update and has audio from Dodgers manager Dave Roberts on the gambling policy for MLB. David Stearns gave us an update on Kodai Senga. Charles Barkley watched the dumbest college basketball game he’s ever seen and it involved Grand Canyon. Patrick Beverly’s podcast talked about the ‘whitest black guys’ in the NBA. In the final segment of the hour, there’s a Newsday article about Chris Oliviero pinned up in the newsroom. He runs this place. It was a Q&A with Neil Best of Newsday. He compared B&G to The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson back in the day. He also said he is not allowing Boomer to retire.  HOUR 4 Shohei Ohtani will meet the media today to talk about the gambling situation with his former interpreter. We talked about Ohtani moving the $4.5 million from his account. Gio said maybe Ohtani will blame Yuri Sucart like ARod did. Jerry returns for his final update but first Boomer said he is rooting for NC State because he knows a kid on the team or something. Jerry starts with Dodgers manager Dave Roberts talking about Ohtani meeting the media today. Mookie Betts talked about having to play through all the noise. Jerry goes around the NCAA tournament from the weekend. Kim Mulkey will not be distracted by ‘one sleazy reporter’. The Moment of The Day involves Gio and his wife on a kayak that was heading out to sea. In the final segment of the show, Gio wonders if Boomer saw the sports minute uproar that happened with J-R when Boomer was out. We also talked about the wire transfer from Ohtani to the bookie.

Boomer & Gio Podcast (WHOLE SHOW)

HOUR 1 Boomer & Jerry touched on a lot of different topics in the first segment: The Mets signed JD Martinez, Kentucky got upset in the NCAA tournament, the Rangers had a big win and Boomer thinks Al’s office is messy. In Oakland’s upset of Kentucky, Jack Gohlke hit ten 3-pointers. C-Lo returns for an update but first Jerry had a terrible round of golf yesterday in 28 degree weather. The Mets signed J.D. Martinez to a 1-year deal. Francisco Lindor was called for obstruction of second base on a steal attempt by the Tigers. C-Lo also updated us on the Ohtani/interpreter/gambling situation. Boomer said Jack Gohlke of Oakland looks like more of a man than Al. In the final segment of the hour, we talked about the controversial call in the Samford/Kansas game.  HOUR 2 We took calls on the refs in the Samford/Kansas game. Jerry wants to know if Boomer has any upset specials for today in the NCAA tournament. We also talked about young guys retiring, like JJ Watt and Aaron Donald. Jerry wonders if Boomer ever thinks about what he’s accomplished in his life. C-Lo returns for an update and starts with Oakland beating Kentucky. Jack Gohlke of Oakland said they’re ‘not a cinderella’. We heard from Evan Washburn talking to John Calipari after the loss. Jerry goes through some new food offerings at Citi Field. We also talked about the Shohei Ohtani situation and speculated on what went down. We took calls from people saying what foods are safe to eat on a plane and which are not. C-Lo returns for an update, but first, Boomer wants Jerry and Evan to do a Nets game on the radio. Last night Andrew Bogusch got to do a game and C-Lo has some sound. Sal Licata was excited the Mets finally got a real DH in JD Martinez. Mike Francesa mushed Kentucky and McNeese State. In the final segment of the hour, Jerry is impressed with the top six in the Yankees lineup today.  HOUR 4 Jerry plays ‘Between The Ears of Boomer’ to get his thoughts on the top topics of the day. We talked about the Mets adding JD Martinez as a DH, Kentucky losing to Oakland, the Rangers winning again last night. A caller wonders about Trevor Bauer’s future. The Moment of The Day involves Andrew Bogusch being on the call for the Nets. In the final segment of the show, Al did a Twitter poll asking if you play golf, guitar, both or neither. That got Boomer back into LIV Golf talk and how he will never go see that and he thinks the TV ratings are terrible.
