Italian Wine Podcast

About

The Italian Wine Podcast began as a storytelling project dedicated to the Italian wine world. It started in March 2017 in the lead-up to major Italian wine events: OperaWine and Vinitaly, and has since become an award-winning show, recognized as one of the most frequently listened-to wine podcasts out there. Italy has more native grape varieties concentrated within its borders than any other country in the world, and Italian wine and grape diversity is a story worth telling. Meanwhile, the popularity of Italian wine continues to grow on an international scale, so, despite our name, our shows are equally geared towards the international wine community. The Italian Wine Podcast aims to inform, educate, and entertain fans through engaging conversations with producers, experts, and personalities of the Italian and international wine scene. #winepodcast #stories #wineeducation #drinksbusiness #italianwine bestpodcasts #new

In 2012 Gilles decided to return to Emilia Romagna and complete his Sommelier studies. Shortly thereafter, the school at which he completed his studies offered him to work as a lecturer in Restaurant service -Bartending, Cafeteria and Enology. He still lectures today, alongside his work as a consultant. Gilles was until 2023 the first and only Ambassador of the Negroamaro grape variety in Italy, Europe and the World. Ep. 1681 Francesca Bonzano Of Castello Di Uviglie | wine2wine Business Forum 2023

Welcome to Episode 1681, where Cynthia Chaplin interviews Italian wine producers during the wine2wine Business Forum 2023 Podcast Marathon. Today she interviews Francesca Bonzano featuring the wine - Castello di Uviglie 1491 Monferrato Rosso DOC Italian Wine Podcast is proud to be a media partner of wine2wine Business Forum and we are pleased to present this series of market focus sessions, recorded during the Forum held in Verona in November 2023. wine2wine Business Forum is an international wine business event, held annually in Verona, Italy since 2014. The event is a key annual reference point for wine producers and wine professionals from around the world, providing an opportunity to network, develop and expand their wine business worldwide. More about today’s winery: Castello di Uviglie, located in Rosignano Monferrato, is one of the oldest wineries in Piedmont: its first vine was planted way back in 1491. The arrival of my family is obviously much more recent: we acquired the winery in 2020, the year I left my life in the USA to return to my motherland. Together with our oenologist Donato Lanati, we aimed to create wines that capture the essence of Monferrato, utilizing our 50 hectares of mostly native grapes such as Barbera, Grignolino, and Albarossa. The peculiarity of Castello di Uviglie, however, lies in a tradition spanning fifty years in the production of Metodo Classico. All our wines (both sparkling, white, and red) "mature" in underground quarries that extend over an area of 10,000 square meters. These "Cave in Pietra da Cantoni" were dug by man since the 8th century AD and were formed by a seabed present in Monferrato over 18 million years ago. This stone not only cradles the roots of our vineyards but also played a significant role in shaping the urban landscape of the Monferrato area. Our latest accomplishment is holding certifications as SQNPI and Equalitas, demonstrating our commitment to sustainable agriculture and practices. Ep. 1673 Sicily Teams Up With Stevie Kim |wine2wine Business Forum Series 2023

Welcome to Episode 1673 on another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim, Today she moderates the session called, Sicily Teams Up with Alberto Tasca, Alessio Planeta, and Antonio Rallo during the recent wine2wine Business Forum 2023. Abstract: Italy’s largest wine-growing region is described through the voices of three producers representing not only three historic Sicilian brands, but also three important associations: Assovini, Consorzio DOC Sicilia, and Fondazione SOStain. Their story spans three decades with a common thread: a choral commitment to the growth of Sicily, a wine-growing region of recognized value and with potential yet to be expressed. This session provides an example of a “production system” where the parties team up and enable dialogue between public and private, between coops and family businesses, between consortia and associations on the island. All with the common goal of increasing the market share and value of Sicilian wine for the entire supply chain. Assovini gathers more than 100 companies that share a verticalized supply chain and a propensity to export. Consorzio DOC Sicilia, which was born in 2012, today gathers 100 million labels. Fondazione SOStain, the only example in Italy, created the procedural guideline for sustainability in Sicilian viticulture and supports some virtuous projects in Sicily. Three families and three stories with a common denominator: Sicily and the importance of teamwork. Ep. 1671 Simone Cane Of Vietti | Slow Wine 2023

Welcome to Episode 1671; part of our Italian wine interview series set in Bologna! Today’s interview features Simone Cane of Vietti Stevie Kim and her team traveled to the Bologna Slow Wine Fair in March 2023. There they conducted dozens of interviews with some of Italy's most inspiring producers. Join the fun every Thursday afternoon! Tune-in each Thursday as we bring you the great interviews that unfolded over the course of 3 days. More about today’s winery: In 1917, returning after many years from living in the United States, Mario Vietti, Carlo’s son, took the reins of the company, transforming it into a winery suitable for the production of high-quality wines. At the end of the 1950s, Alfredo Currado, husband of Luciana Vietti, oenologist and art lover, put into relation the great experience of the Vietti family with new intuitions, capable of intertwining wine knowledge with art and culture. Beginning of 2023, Luca Currado Vietti, together with his wife Elena, departed from the Winery. The Heritage is taken over by the Krause Family, already owner of the Cellar since 2016 and standard-bearer of the new future of the Vietti brand. As the seasons progressed, the company also grew and the focus on improvement soon became a real distinctive style of the winery. Just like the selection and care in the vineyard. Today, Vietti counts, within its heritage, some of the finest and most representative vineyards of the Barolo and Barbaresco areas. As in the past, Vietti maintains those founding values, the same that animated Carlo Vietti at the beginning, and all his successors then. It looks towards the future with even more promising and stimulating prospects. Each wine is the result of artisanal work and the profound understanding and interpretation of each individual terroir. Vietti is thus the place where the intelligence of the hands, applied in the vineyard and the cellar, meets the vision. Ep. 1662 Priscilla Incisa Della Rocchetta | On The Road With Stevie Kim Throwback Instalive

Welcome to Episode 1662 on another episode of “On The Road Edition”, hosted by Stevie Kim. Today we are bringing you a throwback to Stevie’s conversation series “Wonderful Women in Wine” recorded on instalive during the pandemic. In this episode Stevie sits down with Priscilla Incisa della Rocchetta More about today’s winery Tenuta San Guido is a property of approximately 2,500 hectares, of which around one hundred are under vineyards. The company was the first to produce a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine back in the 1940s thanks to the experiments and vision of its founder, Marquis Mario Incisa della Rocchetta. The choice of this variety and the use of barriques for aging laid the foundations for the "Bolgheri" model. The company is the only one to have vineyards suitable for claiming DOC Bolgheri Sassicaia, a typology born as a sub-area of the Bolgheri DOC already in 1994 and converted to an autonomous DOC in December 2013. The company's wine par excellence is Sassicaia, the whose first vintage on the market dates back to 1968.
