Interview with Taylor Acorn

We had the pleasure of interviewing Taylor Acorn over Zoom video. Nashville based singer/songwriter, Taylor Acorn, is gearing up for her FIRST EVER tour supporting Real Friends. The tour will be visiting over 25 cities across North America including stops in Toronto,ON, Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, Pomona, CA and more before wrapping on Tuesday, November 1st in Minneapolis, MN at The Garage. In August, Taylor shared her latest single, “Psycho,” an empowering pop rock anthem about taking your power back from a partner that has been gaslighting you and turning into the “bad guy” they think you are. Growing up in the early 90’s & 2000’s pop punk/ pop rock scene, for Taylor Acorn it was never a phase. Hailing from the small North Central Pennsylvania town of Wellsboro, Taylor had always dreamed of a career in music and in 2014, dropped out of Kutztown University to pursue just that, setting her sights for Nashville in 2017. She first left her mark in the country music world with her 2017 single “Put It In a Song” followed up by an EP she wrote solely on her own, which now garners nearly 50 Million streams, releasing several singles to follow. However, she never felt at home creating country music and in the midst of the 2020 pandemic went back to her pop punk roots with her cover of “Jamie All Over” on TikTok, sparking the attention of many elder emo fans as well as Mayday Parade themselves. Since then, she has gained the attention of many emo/pop punk bands with her newly rendered versions of their songs. Covers aren’t the only thing that’s been grasping the attention of fans though. With her infectiously relatable releases of “Do That Again”, “In My Head” and “Shapeshifting”, Taylor is now leaving her own footprint in the pop punk community giving her fans a place to feel safe and to feel heard, by tackling tough subjects such as mental health by sharing her own personal struggles. She wants to give her listeners a space where they can feel free and vulnerable, a place where healing is accepted no matter who you are or where you’ve come from. We want to hear from you! Interview with Futuristic

We had the pleasure of interviewing Futuristic over Zoom video. Growing up around music from his father & 8 siblings it was inevitable that Futuristic would be a natural. The household was filled with hip-hop, rock & pop vibes all giving the young artist an eclectic palate to begin a very successful journey. His professional career began in 2012 with the release of his first album “Dream Big”. From then till now he's done it all. His albums “The Rise” & “Coast 2 Coast” both premiered in the top 10 on Billboard in 2015 landing him on TV shows such as Jimmy Fallon, Good Morning America & Good Day New York. His collaboration with superstar NF is now over 56 million streams on Spotify alone adding to the list of 63 other songs that have surpassed the 1 million stream milestone. Maybe more impressive, Futuristic has conquered a variety of other endeavors outside of music like opening a clothing store, landing his own clothing line in over 100 retail stores, writing a book, partnering in film properties, running a management company & starting the one stop shop for artists "Indie Amplify". Moving forward he has refocused himself on music, digging back into some of his early roots of rock & pop for his upcoming project "Never 2 Late". Always ahead of his time, Futuristic plans to live up to his name with a new genre bending sound unlike anything you've ever heard. We want to hear from you! Interview with Selin

We had the pleasure of interviewing Selin over Zoom video. Istanbul-born, London-based pop force Selin makes a major statement with her latest single “Cool” – which marks her first official English single under Warner Music. Written by Selin with Gil Lewis (Blithe, BEKA, Aleyna Tilki) and Micky Blue (Tiësto, TWICE, TaeYeon), “Cool” is a slow-burning, alt-pop number that faces the problem and ensuing emotional chaos of trying to remain on good terms with an ex. Expertly crafted pop hooks and Selin’s honeyed vocals help deliver the personal lyrics with complete emotional capacity, backed up by full-bodied drums and distinctively catchy guitar riffs for a sensational pop-rock experience. With Selin getting her name out there via big-time dance cuts for major names like Mahmut Orhan, Mert Oksuz, Barlas & Mert, and Trafoier, the bilingual, free-spirited creative made her official Warner Music debut in 2021 with the punchy and slick synth stylings of “Gidip Gel”; effortlessly blending English and Turkish lyrics with Selin’s powerful vocal moments, Selin then proved her international capabilities by transforming the song into a fully English remake in “Give and Take”, which received key support from Brooke Reese’s Apple Music show. Selin embarked on her journey as an independent artist after graduating from the BIMM Institute London, which has seen her opening for artists like Donna Missal at O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire in London, as well as a stadium tour around Turkey performing alongside Turkish icon Sertab Erener. Carving out an audience for herself with her ‘boho rock’ vibes and unique viral content of Selin covering Turkish classics with English lyrics, the covers prove a further example of Selin’s mission to sprinkle what she calls her “Turkish spice” into all aspects of her career – be it through creative infusions of Turkish instruments across Western pop production, or seamlessly mixing Turkish and English lyrics together. Always taking an authentic approach to her songwriting, Selin uses the art form as her own form of healing and writes with ‘no filter’ to capture her innermost thoughts and feelings. Interview with The Higher

We had the pleasure of interviewing The Higher over Zoom video. The Higher recently released their first single since their 2009 LP It’s Only Natural titled “Free Ride.” This new single comes ahead of the band's newly announced EP Elvis in Wonderland, which is entirely produced by Mike Pepe (Taking Back Sunday, As It Is, Bayside, Anthony Green.) Elvis in Wonderland hits DSPs October 14, 2022 via Secret Friends Music Group, and will be available on vinyl in collaboration with Take This To Heart Records and Parting Gift Records. The Higher rode the wave of pop-rock stardom in the early 2000’s after sharing the stage with emo greats including Panic! At The Disco, Taking Back Sunday, Motion City Soundtrack, Silverstein, and more. Their unique brand of rock fused with a hint of groove landed their fan-favorite On Fire LP a #9 spot on the Billboard Heatseekers Charts, on heavy rotation on multiple MTV channels, and on the radar of top tastemakers including SPIN, Kerrang!, Fuse, and more. Now the Epitaph Records alumni are taking everything they know from the major stages of their early days to shine brighter than ever for their 2022 comeback. The new tracks encompass their rejuvenated sound and fresh era fusing elements of dance pop, emo, and R&B with a pop-punk edge. Interview with Hezron Clarke

We had the pleasure of interviewing Brooke Annibale over Zoom video. Montego Bay, Jamaica raised vocalist, songwriter and producer Hezron Clarke released his album, M.O.A.M. (Man on a Mission), via Tad’s Record (Ernie Ranglin, Tanya Stephens). Recorded in Reggae’s birthplace, Kingston Jamaica, M.O.A.M. features some of Jamaica’s greatest musicians including Dean Fraser (saxophone), Kirk “Kirkle Dove” Bennett (drums), Donald “Danny Bassie” Dennis (bass), Mitchum Khan (guitar), Carol “Bowie” McLaughlin (keyboards) and Robbie Lyn (keyboards). On a lyrical front, the album embodies feel-good vibes with motivational and inspirational concepts that encourage patience and resilience. With inspiration from classic soul artists such as Luther Vandross, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke, to 90’s favorites KC and Jojo and Dave Hollister to iconic Jamaican singers Beres Hammond and Dennis Brown, Hezron has embodied his own classic vocal and musical style while taking notes from some of the greats. Hezron released his debut album The Life I Live(d) on Tad’s Record in 2015. His return to the label with M.O.A.M. unites two established Jamaican brands, each committed to proving that quality reggae with the potential for widespread global appeal is still being made in the music’s birthplace. Although many younger Jamaican artists embrace trap and hip-hop over indigenous reggae and dancehall, a stark contrast to the proliferation of young American reggae bands, especially in California, Tad’s Record founder Tad Dawkins is determined to see Jamaican reggae restored to prominence internationally. It’s an objective he firmly believes will be fulfilled with the release of M.O.A.M. We want to hear from you! Interview with Brooke Annibale

We had the pleasure of interviewing Brooke Annibale over Zoom video. Indie singer/songwriter Brooke Annibale released new album Better By Now through Nettwerk Music Group. A fearless new collection of songs, Brooke has both emboldened her sound on Better By Now as well as entered a new phase of life after making significant strides in her mental-health journey and saying “I do” to her wife. “I wrote this song in early January 2021,” stated Brooke. “We had literally just put the christmas tree out on the curb, and I felt this terrible sentimental feeling for it. This was also the same week as the Capitol attack. We had pushed through 2020, looking at 2021 as some kind of savior, but once it arrived nothing really changed. There was still the same intensely hostile political discourse and the pandemic continued raging on. It felt like things were getting worse somehow, when I hoped for it to be better by now. Reflecting on that time, it taught me that expecting a perfect external outcome will not lead to feeling better. I’ve got to do the internal work to have any kind of peace with the roller coaster of life.” Produced by Christian “Leggy” Langdon (Joseph, Amos Lee) and Matthew E White (Natalie Prass, Dan Croll), Better By Now features 10 blossoming indie-pop tracks that Brooke describes as a “spectrum of emotions.” In her trademark layered approach, the Pittsburgh-born, Rhode Island-based artist reflects on love, anxiety, depression, and how two seemingly opposing forces can exist at once. “The album is basically half about falling in love and half about mental health.” Earlier this summer, Brooke teased a couple songs from her new album, including the “immediately catchy” (FLOOD) lead single “What If You” and the “soaring, ethereal pop song” (Brooklyn Vegan) “5 AM” accompanied by the Genéa Gaudet-directed video. In celebration of Pride Month, Brooke also shared an inspiring op-ed via Atwood Magazine on representation, equality, authentic connection, and her journey to self-acceptance. Brooke's expressive and beautifully thoughtful songwriting creates a dreamy and enticing sonic landscape. We want to hear from you! Interview with 'Captain' Kirk Douglas of The Roots // Hundred Watt Heart

We had the pleasure of interviewing “Captain” Kirk Douglas over Zoom video. The Roots guitarist “Captain” Kirk Douglas issues a brand new single and music video entitled “We Can Be One” under his solo imprint Hundred Watt Heart. The New York-based GRAMMY® Award-winning guitarist and vocalist steps into the spotlight with this introspective and infectious anthem. The track hinges on a wah-pedal drenched funk riff, simmering beat, and boisterous horn section. It locks into an Afrobeat-infused strut as he repeats an undeniable and uplifting mantra on the hook, “We can be one.” The Alexander Fischetti-directed accompanying video captures this spirit and highlights Kirk’s powerful presence as a frontman in his own right. It harnesses the track’s psychedelic sound and influences from funk to jazz to jam and everything in between, establishing Kirk as a genre-defying master of his craft. Most importantly, “We Can Be One” paves the way for his anxiously awaited new full-length solo LP—due out very soon. Stay tuned for more from “Captain” Kirk Douglas. Audiences worldwide recognize “Captain” Kirk Douglas’s scorching singular style as a six-string powerhouse. Joining The Roots back in 2003, he has supplied guitar and background vocals for a series of critically acclaimed Top 10 albums on the Billboard Top 200, including The Tipping Point [2004], Game Theory [2006], Rising Down [2008], How I Got Over [2010], and Wake Up! [2010] with John Legend. The latter garnered a pair of GRAMMY® Awards, namely “Best R&B Album” and “Best Traditional R&B Vocal Performance” for “Hang On In There.” In addition, his guitar powered The Roots’s tastemaker-approved …And Then You Shoot Your Cousin in 2014. Between countless sold-out live shows, he holds down guitar duties for the band nightly on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. He also notably forces with Gibson Guitars to release his own signature SG model. We want to hear from you! Interview with Oceans Ate Alaska

We had the pleasure of interviewing Oceans Ate Alaska over Zoom video. Balance requires duality. As such, Oceans Ate Alaska thrive in the midst of extremes. The British quintet—James Harrison [vocals], Chris Turner [drums], James “Jibs” Kennedy [guitar], Adam Zytkiewicz [guitar], and Mike Stanton [bass]—ebb and flow between moments of elite metallic intensity, proficient progressive experimentation, and delicate lo-fi bliss. They plunge dynamic depths and surface with an utterly unpredictable and undeniable signature style meant to upend expectations at every turn. After tallying tens of millions of streams and earning acclaim from Alternative Press, New Noise Magazine, and more, the group perfect this balance on their third full-length offering, Disparity [Fearless Records]. Oceans Ate Alaska have carefully and quietly progressed to this point. Following their 2015 debut Lost Isles, they presented Hikari in 2017. “Hansha” amassed over 10.8 million Spotify streams as the album surpassed 40 million total streams. Along the way, they toured with the likes of Wage War, The Plot In You, We Came As Romans, Like Moths To Flames, and more. Throughout 2021, they assembled what would become Disparity. Inspired by a mutual love for the likes of Bonobo and Alina Baraz, collaborator Clem Cherry enhanced the production with airy beat-craft and immersive sonic accents. At the same time, they absorbed the unease of the world, infusing a post-apocalyptic thematic undercurrent. We want to hear from you! Interview with Stephen Sanchez

We had the pleasure of interviewing Stephen Sanchez over Zoom video. Emerging as one of the year’s fastest-rising breakthrough talents, buzzing Nashville-based singer and songwriter Stephen Sanchez debuts his highly-anticipated new EP, Easy On My Eyes, today via Mercury Records/Republic Records In addition to Stephen’s global smash “Until I Found You,” the seven track EP includes his luminous new single “See The Light.” On the song, acoustic guitar brushes up against his swooning vocals. A gorgeous hook takes flight above handclaps highlighted by a powerful crescendo with timeless grace and palpable energy. Across Easy On My Eyes, Stephen recounts an unbelievable year since his emergence. He wrote nearly all of the songs on the EP himself and teamed up with Jamie Hartman [James Bay, Lewis Capaldi] and Jon Green [Lady A, Little Big Town] on “Hey Girl.” He then worked with producers Ian Fitchuk [Kacey Musgraves, James Bay] and Konrad Snyder [Madi Diaz, Rainbow Kitten Surprise] in Nashville to bring the EP to life in one-take performances. The project illuminates his talent both as a vocalist and a songwriter. Stirring up excitement for the project’s arrival, Stephen continued to reach new career highs throughout the summer. “Until I Found You” has amassed nearly 640 million global streams to date across all platforms, is RIAA Certified Gold, just hit #5 at AAA Radio this week, and continues to climb up the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. Recently, he shared the 1950’s-inspired music video for the single, which Rolling Stone exclusively gave a first look to and has collected over 20 million views since its release. Interview with Shiadanni

We had the pleasure of interviewing Shiadanni over Zoom video. A lot of self-reflection and introspection came to Shiadanni in order to make this EP. In November of 2019, Shiadanni moved away from the city, and surrounded herself in nature and silence to try to find peace. Her plans of being an artist had changed but using this time of self-reflection she decided she would make music for herself. Shortly after moving away, the pandemic hit and she was forced to live with her thoughts every day which helped analyze her life. Through music, she was able to talk to her younger self and empower her. Eventually, she was able to produce enough music to release 3 full studio albums and narrow down six powerful tracks for “Facing The Mirror.” Shiadanni has showcased her inner strength while creating the luminary cool and dynamic sound that she’s known for, leaving listeners ready for what’s next. Just recently, Shiadanni released the striking visuals for “Penny Pills” and “Velvet World.” The contrast of the blue coloring in “Penny Pills” and the captivating red in “Velvet World” shows the diverse talent she displays cinematically. ABOUT SHIADANNI Pop singers tend to prefer sunny weather to stormy skies. It’s the rare artist who has the courage to dive deep in song. But Shiadanni is no ordinary artist, and her music is anything but average. The Montreal alternative pop singer and songwriter has already demonstrated that she can bring the party: her prior singles were dancefloor burners, late-night anthems, fearless amalgamations of European club music and Latin soul. But with her latest, she’s taking us somewhere we’ve never been before — her mind. The singer and songwriter was born and raised in Guadalajara, and the echoes of Mexican pop-rock are audible in everything she does. But she's currently based in Montreal, the center of the dream-pop revolution, and the sound she's crafted there draws heavily from late-night R&B and moody, intoxicated hip-hop. With the confidence of an auteur who has found her path, Shiadanni nods toward the many places she's been and makes records that suit the whole world. We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Kalpee over Zoom video. Kalpee is a rising artist from Trinidad & Tobago and part of a new generation of Caribbean musicians pushing a fresh tropical sound aptly named “New Calypso”. Pulling from his heritage, Kalpee delivers a modern fusion of Calypso, dancehall and reggae rhythm, laced with rock inspired guitar riffs, supported by soulful melodies and a captivating r&b vocal delivery. A conflict of genres sonically blended in perfect balance. Kalpee has previously worked with platinum recording superstar Stefflon Don on his sun-soaked single ‘Gimme De Ting,‘ & Jamaican “Lightening” singer Mortimer on their Lessons” release. He has also worked with an elite line up of Grammy Award producers & writers including: Carla Marie Williams (Beyonce, Britney Spears, Rudimental, Sean Paul), Yei Gonzales (Diplo, Cardi B, Dj Khaled), Santiago Rodriguez (Little Mix, Pit Bull, Akon) & The Anmls (The Weeknd, Future, BANKS, Belly, French Montana). Earlier this Spring, Kalpee once again pioneered the ‘Island Wave’ stage at SXSW 2022, with the aim of continuing to create a growing platform for Caribbean artists to come together, showcase, celebrate and support each other’s music. Island Wave successfully launched @ SXSW on March 18th, filling the Flamingo Cantina Austin, TX to capacity as part of the official SXSW festivities with an after party hosted by Ras Kwame and Reggae Recipe. First of its kind, ’Island Wave’ is now not only the official home to Caribbean music at SXSW, returning in 2023 and years to come, but also the first home of ’New Calypso’, a genre being pushed by Trinbagonian musicians as a way to identify their musical heritage, which they proudly carry forward. As we anticipate the release of Kalpee’s debut album later this year and as he continues to explore his New Calypso sound and pursue his projects with intentional passion, this deft Musician, singer, songwriter, producer is very much affirming his position as an artist to watch in 2022! Interview with GLDMTH (Ryan Guldemond Returns!)

We had the pleasure of interviewing GLDMTH over Zoom video. Frontman and songwriter, Ryan Guldemond of alt-rock touring and streaming giant MOTHER MOTHER has released his deeply personal solo project GLDMTH (pronounced gold mouth) today. As a true multi-media experience, the eleven-track album arrives with an official video for lead single “The People” which was directed, shot, and edited by Guldemond himself. The introspective video evokes the feeling of an experimental short film exposing the poignant beauty of the everyday life from which Guldemond draws his work’s awestruck and melancholic spiri. GLDMTH is available now on DSP’s, vinyl, and CD. “GLDMTH is a project where I’m able to show artistic reverence for how I see the world, which is innately strange and beautiful and profound and mundane and poignant and funny and wholesome and disturbing,” Guldemond explains. “From people, to nature, to dystopia, birdsong and dreams, I try to let the cues of life fuel the sound and imagery of GLDMTH. Whether it's a conversation, the rhythm of a train, or caution tape strung up on a swing set during a pandemic, it's all fuel for the project which is driven by music, photography, poetry and videography. I feel very grateful to have a space where I’m able to be so freely creative, using my favourite mediums, to metabolize the human experience in an artful manner.” In addition to the hauntingly beautiful official video for “The People,” each track from the album has been released as a lyric video featuring animated imagery. In addition, Guldemond curated photographs from his archive, resulting in a visual representation for each song on the album. These striking images make up the artwork for the physical package. Interview with Stela Cole

We had the pleasure of interviewing Stela Cole over Zoom video. Singer/songwriter Stela Cole recently released her anthemic new single "Rhapsody In Pink" via Ultra Records. An audacious pop-come-hiphop interpolation of Gershwin's "Rhapsody In Blue," the track is all about knowing your self-worth and truly solidifies Stela as one to watch as it spotlights her incredible versatility and fearless authenticity. Check out the music video for "Rhapsody In Pink" https://youtu.be/e7f5-AjjbdQ Explosive, elegant, and irresistibly larger-than-life, Stela's music radiates the kind of unbridled confidence that leaves a long-lasting impact. The bold energy of her immaculately composed pop comes from years of fighting for her vision and refusing to compromise the elaborate depth of her artistry and she is now set to deliver her most extravagantly realized music yet beginning with “Rhapsody In Pink.” The track landed Stela on the cover of Filtr US' Up Next playlist in addition to support on their On Fleek and Pop Matters playlists and was featured on Spotify's New Music Friday in 9 different countries. "Rhapsody In Pink" is Stela's latest single and the first since performing on NBC's American Song Contest earlier this year where she represented the state of Georgia and broke the show's season record for week 1 streaming with break-up single "DIY," co-written by Tele (Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts”). Building an audience that has grown with her every step of the way, throughout her career she has released two EPs [Throwing Up Butterflies (2018), Woman Of The Hour (2020)] and a string of independent releases including hit single "I Shot Cupid," the raw and rapturous "You F O," and the sultry "Love Like Mine," racking up over 80 million global streams and support from the likes of Refinery29, HuffPost, PopDust, Just Jared, and Digital Journal among others. Interview with Mikayla Lane

We had the pleasure of interviewing Mikayla Lane over Zoom video. Seventeen-year-old Mikayla Lane recently released her new song, “Ambush”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UlAjbpQNCC4 Written by Mikayla and John Conrad and produced by Jimmy Ritchey (Jake Owen, Clay Walker, Mark Chestnutt), "Ambush" brings a spunky, cowgirl-themed tale of unexpected love on the range and offers up a western-esque vibe. Mikayla Lane is ambitious and driven--traits branded by her upbringing, lifestyle, personality and passions. With heart, vision and talent beyond her years, she knows what she wants and she is determined to chase her dream; her pursuit began early on. Mikayla was just 13 when she earned a spot on Blake Shelton’s OIe Red talent roster, which originated in Shelton’s hometown of Tishomingo, Oklahoma and Mikayla’s home state. She has become a staple at the venue in Tishomingo and has appeared on the Ole Red stages in Nashville, Gatlinburg and Orlando. The country music starlet has become a “fan-favorite” at a variety of notable venues, including Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa where she opened for Jon Wolfe. Interview with Carly Rose

We had the pleasure of interviewing Carly Rose over Zoom video. Ten years ago, a 13-year-old dazzled a panel of judges that included Britney Spears, Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, and L.A. Reid, on the second season of Fox’s The X Factor. She then went off to win the hearts of the world with her stunning cover of Karmin’s “Brokenhearted” solidifying her place in pop culture history. The now 23-year-old Carly Rose is commemorating the 10th anniversary of the show and revisiting this time of her life with her grown-up interpretation of “Brokenhearted,” out today worldwide across all digital platforms. At age seven, Carly snagged a role in the Broadway production of Les Misérables, and began performing in theater, on TV and in films, and touring nationally. At 13, her instincts lead her to audition for The X Factor. Her intuition proved to be spot on. The little girl with the big voice made the cut, was a fan-favorite, and went on to become the runner-up, the youngest in the show’s history. Following the conclusion of her run on The X-Factor, while still under the glare of the spotlight, Carly and her family made the decision for her to have a childhood away from the limelight. This gave her the freedom to pursue an education, and develop into a fully formed artist who approaches performing and songwriting with a level of focus and maturity well beyond her 23 years, amassing an impressive catalog of original music. For years Carly shied away from associating herself with the show, but it was the original X Factor fans, as well as the community that she cultivated on social media that encouraged her to embrace nostalgia and this part of her life. After posting a number of tongue-in-cheek TikTok videos referencing her time on the show, she came to see that people really cared and were genuinely interested. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Carly looks at this exercise, especially with the direction of the music video, as embracing this chapter of her story, and more importantly bringing a sense of joy to her fans. The video, directed by Claire Schmitt, gives a special nod to that very magical moment. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbQMCFknS4c&feature=youtu.be We want to hear from you! Interview with Tyson Motsenbocker

We had the pleasure of interviewing Tyson Motsenbocker over Zoom video. Where do dreams go when you become an adult? Well, they don’t disappear or dissolve into the ether. Those dreams simply change with you. However, it doesn’t mean you can’t still grasp the way they made you feel. As such, we treasure memories by recalling them and sharing them as often as possible. Tyson Motsenbocker preserves those youthful memories in his music, etching them into the fabric of the songs. The Washington-born and California based singer and songwriter encases them in lithe melodies, upbeat soundscapes, and ponderous lyrics. After generating tens of millions of streams and cultivating a devout fan base, he examines the jump from childhood to adulthood – or maybe just the space between the two – on his third full-length offering, Milk Teeth [Tooth & Nail]. Tyson has consistently tuned into such emotions with relatability and vulnerability. Following his 2016 debut LP Letters to Lost Loves, he spent as much time as possible on the road, performing countless shows and captivating audiences across America and beyond. However, he connected deeply on 2020’s Someday I’ll Make It All Up To You. Meanwhile, “Autumn Love” was generating two and a half million Spotify streams. The followup single “Sunday Morning” followed close behind with nearly two million Spotify streams. Just a handful of shows into what was booked to be a two year touring schedule, Covid 19 shut all touring down. Motsenbocker and his band headed home, where a period of reflection ensued, setting the foundation for what would become Milk Teeth. Tyson hit the studio in Orange County, California with producer Nathan Cimino, drummer James McCalister, bassist Patrick Dodd and keyboardist Matthew Wright. Thematically reflected in the title (another name for “baby teeth”), the music struck a sweet spot akin to the “summer after you graduate from high school where you’re walking the line between the confusion and excitement of childhood and the gravity of being an adult.” In the end, Tyson is an adult, and it ain’t so bad. In fact, it sounds beautiful on Milk Teeth. We want to hear from you! Interview with Kings Elliot

We had the pleasure of interviewing Kings Elliot over Zoom video. One of 2022’s most promising new voices Kings Elliot releases her sophomore EP Bored Of The Circus via Verve Forecast/Interscope. The EP is also available to purchase on limited edition 10’’ vinyl. Along with the EP, Kings Elliot releases the official music video for “Ashes By The Morning.” WATCH “ASHES BY THE MORNING” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4oZ5HKaWos LISTEN TO BORED OF THE CIRCUS https://kingselliot.lnk.to/BoredoftheCircus On Bored Of The Circus, the half-Swiss, half-British singer-songwriter further establishes herself as one of altpop’s leading up-and-comers. Elliot digs into her deepest emotions while crafting finely wrought pop songs that feel both incredibly intimate and otherworldly. The contrast between her to-the-bone lead vocal, which precisely describes her internal torment, and the voices surrounding her, a hovering choir accompaniment made up of multiple tracks of Kings’ own voice and arranged by chief collaborator halfrhymes, results in an out-of- time musical experience that heightens all the knotty emotions outlined in her lyrics as she explores themes of mental health, innocence, heartbreak, growth, and hope. Elliot recently concluded supporting U.S. pop-rock megaforce Imagine Dragons on their North American stadium tour, which kicked off in early August. She also took the School Night stage on September 12th at Bardot in Los Angeles alongside Josh Fudge, Reve, and Cian Ducrot. Elliot remains a leading advocate for mental health - an open book with her fans, she explores and speaks openly about her battle through her music and her social pages have become a safe haven and space of community for fans. Her bruising honesty and dedication to the craft of songwriting have already made her beloved by fans around the world, and she’s already been called “a future star” by BBC6 music maven Chris Hawkins. Kings Elliot has already received critical praise from Consequence, Teen Vogue, Billboard, Clash, Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit, COLORS and Lyrical Lemonade, among others, as well as social support from Reese Witherspoon, Dixie D’Amelio, Lewis Capaldi and Milky Chance. Interview with Chappell Roan (Chappell Returns!)

We had the pleasure of interviewing Chappell Roan over Zoom video. Chappell Roan recently released her new song “Femininomenon”! “In 2018, Chappell Roan packed everything she owned into the back of her car and drove three days straight from her tiny Missouri hometown, to make L.A. her home. Not long after landing in her new city, Chappell spent an outrageously fun night out at iconic gay bar The Abbey—an experience that soon altered her entire trajectory as an artist. “All of a sudden I realized I could truly be any way I wanted to be, and no one would bat an eye,” says Chappell. “It was so different from home, where I always had such a hard time being myself and felt like I’d be judged for being different or being creative. I just felt overwhelmed with complete love and acceptance, and from then on I started writing songs as the real me.” With more new music coming very soon, Chappell Roan’s transformation into a glittery pop artist is well underway.” We want to hear from you! Interview with Hevenshe

We had the pleasure of interviewing Jenna McDougall of Hevenshe over Zoom video. You know her as the explosive frontwoman of the worldwide adored, internationally recognised punk-rock band, Tonight Alive. Stepping outside of the walls of the world she has built for herself over the last 14 years, Jenna McDougall emerges from musical hiatus to birth her new independent project, Hevenshe. Hevenshe (Heaven – she, a mirrored expression of Divine Feminine) offers us a bold delivery of original, open letter artistry, both lyrically striking and sonically timeless. Welcoming the entire spectrum of emotion, McDougall once again invites her beloved audience into tell-all melodic journeys, rippling with transcendence. Hevenshe is simultaneously a departure from McDougall’s punk-emo roots and a continuation of her original mission: self-empowerment and emotional freedom. Hevenshe is a self-managed and independently released project on the artist’s budding label PREMA Records. For the first time in over a decade, McDougall is experiencing what it's like to be an unestablished artist. This seems to excite, rather than intimidate her. “No One Will Ever Love You” brings a level of familiarity & comfort. With 4 years between musical releases, Hevenshe will have you hooked with her signature vocals, relatable lyrics and cathartic compositions. Equal parts tenacity and tenderness, this song covers themes of both heartbreak and acceptance, with a message that McDougall was denied to deliver. She agreed this outlet was therapeutic for her & hopes it will be the same for listeners. Having been off the road for three years, McDougall says she is “Ready to thrust my creative life into the public space again. I want to perform. It’s a huge part of me and how I experience the world. I love connecting with people, I love travelling and I love performing. I can’t get enough of it! So, I want to make up for lost time.” We want to hear from you! Interview with Austin Tolliver

We had the pleasure of interviewing Austin Tolliver over Zoom video. Austin Tolliver’s early ambitions were to become a professional athlete. It looked like the Louisiana native was headed that way when he started playing football in college at New Mexico State University (and college baseball at Texas Tech University) and quickly became recognized for his athletic prowess. However, his path changed when he moved to Nashville and fell in love with music. The country-rap blend of Ride 4 Me displays the eclectic layers of Austin Tolliver's musical talents. “From country to rap to rock, my music is a crossover of different genres. I infuse the music I grew up on into my style,” commented Tolliver. His diverse influences ranged from Tupac, Nelly, Ludacris, 50 Cent and Eminem to George Strait, Tim McGraw, Billy Ray Cyrus, Colt Ford and Shenandoah. Sonic evidence of this can be heard across Tolliver’s debut full-length album, Ride 4 Me. In college, Tolliver admittedly wasn’t the best student. As long as he excelled at sports, the educational requirements took a back seat. “I was a football and baseball player at New Mexico State University and Texas Tech University. My job as a student athlete was to win games, to sell tickets, break records, and win damn championships. I did just that.” Tolliver’s father, who was an NFL player and called himself “the rednecks’ quarterback,” taught his son to strive to be the best whether on stage or in the stadium as “people paid their hard-earned money to come and be entertained.” Talent, perseverance and a winning attitude lead Tolliver to the attention of Average Joes Entertainment. The Nashville-based record label signed Tolliver and released his debut single, “Tip My Hat,” in late 2020. His 2021 singles, “Yodelay You Down” and “Ride 4 Me” caught the ears of fans and kept their attention through every new music release after. We want to hear from you! Interview with Jonathan Terrell

We had the pleasure of interviewing Jonathan Terrell over Zoom video. In the early days, Jonathan Terrell balanced his burgeoning solo career with his work as frontman of local rock n roll powerhouse, Not in the Face, showing a duality and versatility rarely seen in country. Early records like 2008’s Trials & Stimulations and 2015’s Past the Lights of Town established him as a boozy street poet, a gun-toting feminist (Vice) with the theatrics of a Texas Springsteen and the introspective power of Townes Van Zandt. He followed those records with his latest album, 2020’s Westward, which was hailed by Rolling Stone as “irresistible.” “I wrote this song at a Paul Simon concert about a beautiful woman I saw flying down the stairs to her seat, holding 2 big cups of beer,” says recording artist Jonathan Terrell in his signature Texas twang of his newly released tune, “I Know.” The first release from Terrell’s upcoming EP, A Couple, 2, 3, the beginnings of “I Know” kicked off a whole lot more in Terrell’s life than meets the eye. “I could only make out her silhouette between her and the lights from the stage but I was so moved that I had to step outside and write this whole song on my phone, so as to not be an asshole on my phone at a Paul Simon show,” he remembers fondly. The beautiful woman turned instant muse? That’s Christina, and she’s now Terrell’s fiancée. “I Know” comes across earnest and true; a testament to that moment when Terrell knew exactly what Christina meant to him, delivered through his raw, pure voice and a straightforward groove somewhere between Bruce Springsteen and Robert Earl Keen. Produced by Beau Bedford (The Texas Gentlemen) at Dallas’s beloved Modern Electric Studios, like the rest of A Couple, 2, 3, “I Know” is available to stream and fans can also pre-save or pre-order A Couple, 2, 3 ahead of its September 9th release via Range Music We want to hear from you! Interview with Zyah Belle

We had the pleasure of interviewing Zyah Belle over Zoom video. When you know yourself, nothing can stop you… Zyah Belle both realizes and understands her power as a singer, songwriter, producer, and arranger. She’s reached this realization through a tireless grind, going from countless open mics and gigs at dimly lit bars in Northern California to collaborating with some of the most celebrated icons in history. At the same time, she’s also grown into an uncompromising and undeniable solo artist in her own right with widespread critical acclaim and millions of streams. Hailing from the small town of Vallejo, CA, she initially discovered music in church. Mom served as the choir director, so Zyah participated in children’s choir as soon as she could. Inspired by her two older sisters, she simultaneously developed a passion for R&B. Raised by a single mother and her siblings, she found herself surrounded by “powerful women.” Among many highlights, she co-wrote and collaborated with Snoop Dogg on “Trouble,” which served as the end credits song for Dog Gone Trouble on NETFLIX. She lent her voice to Terrace Martin’s “Never Saw It Coming” [feat. Zyah Belle & Problem] in addition to Too $hort’s “I Stay Up” and “Get Top.” Recording and performing with Kanye West’s Sunday Service Choir, her voice boomed on chart-topping #1 releases such as ye and Jesus Is King. The latter even earned “Top Christian Album” and “Top Gospel Album” at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards and “Best Contemporary Christian Music Album” at the 2021 GRAMMY® Awards. Following New Levels [2016] and IX [2019], Zyah’s 2021 Who’s Listening Anyway EP racked up millions of streams and incited widespread critical acclaim. Vibe touted it on “The 21 Best R&;B Albums of 2021” and went on to declare, “Belle is able to fold the styles of Erykah Badu’s melodic rawness, Anderson .Paak’s wittiness, and the essence of ‘90s neo-soul into a terse seven-track body of work.” Working with the likes of Hollywood Cole, Sam Barsh, and PBnJ, she levels up yet again on Yam Grier. Cut at the legendary Doghouse Studio in Los Angeles, she strikes a balance between 21 st century soul and classic seventies spirit—suggested by the title Yam Grier. We want to hear from you! Interview with Mikalah Gordon

We had the pleasure of interviewing Mikalah Gordon over Zoom video. Mikalah has been able to find strength and healing from rough times through the power of music, with the journey to her first-ever record. In the height of the Pandemic, the artist found herself in a place of depression (like many of us) after losing her best friend (her grandmother) and being stuck in the world we were forced to live through in 2020. To help process her emotions, her friend and mutual Idol alum, Brandon Rogers, invited her into the studio to write out her feelings. This collaborative effort also features her first ever bilingual track, musicians who’ve worked with LGTBQ+ icon Lady Gaga, and even a duet with Mikalah’s brother (who recently left to join the U.S. Army) leading to a cathartic record that shares Mikalah’s story and universal themes of love, loss, and self-acceptance. Now, Mikalah has just released her newest single, “Hands Off” off of her debut album VIVIAN, named after the singer’s later grandmother. Mikalah Gordon knows how to take multifaceted to a whole new level. A Vegas native and proud LGBTQ+ Italian-American, Mikalah channels her love of family, her culture, and entertainment across music, comedy, acting, and as a TV personality/host. At only 17 years old, her time as a Top 12 contestant on American Idol Season 4 kick started her career with a national audience that took to her unique stage presence and powerful vocals. Mikalah would soon after return to Idol as a co-host for “American Idol Extra” and go on to create her own YouTube series, Idolatry, where she interviewed former coaches and contestants In addition to this exciting step into music, Mikalah continues to host Channel Q’s ‘The Morning Beat’ and World’s Funniest & Weirdest on the CW. Interview with Duncan Laurence

We had the pleasure of interviewing Duncan Laurence over Zoom video. Duncan Laurence shared the official video for his new single, “Electric Life.” Shot in Amsterdam, the sepia-drenched video blurs the line between heaven and earth as Laurence, clad in a gossamer white shirt, performs the song alongside a troupe of choreographed hands, reaching out to support and encourage him from another world. Like the song, which features dynamic, colorful production inspired by ’70s icons like Elton John and Queen, the celebratory clip is imbued with a sense of joy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsT4t0toY90 Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with “Arcade.” The song took the #1 spot on Spotify’s Global Viral chart on release and ultimately took off on Tik Tok with now over 56 billion views on the platform. Combined global streams of the song across all platforms have surpassed 10 billion and the single has attained Gold/Platinum certifications in 37 countries, including Platinum in the U.S., where it was a top 10 hit at Adult Contemporary radio. Placing in the top 30 of the Billboard Hot 100, “Arcade” was the first Eurovision Song Contest winner to enter the prestigious chart in 45 years. “Arcade” was re-released in 2020 a new verse featuring FLETCHER. Working with women, particularly members of the LGBTQIA+ community, is a priority for Laurence. His crew on the visual for “Electric Life” and other forthcoming singles, for example, is composed predominantly of women. “Electric Life” is the first track to be released from Laurence’s sessions with his fiancé, songwriter Jordan Garfield, and producer Paul Phamous (Frank Ocean, Nick Jonas).
